For our final course showcase on Friday, Dec. 8th at WQED, you will build a further elaboration on one (or both) of your prior major projects in this course. (We expect most students to build only one elaboration, but you are welcome to attempt multiple elaborations with instructor permission.)
Our expectation is that you will not merely re-present an already existing project in form it was in at the time of its earlier submission, but rather that you will work towards building a meaningful improvement or modification of that project for presentation. You should refer to the comments and suggestions you received in the final project critiques to guide your thoughts on what changes you'd like to work towards. Some possible improvements or changes you may wish to consider:
make aesthetic changes, e.g. use different materials, colors, or forms
make functional changes, e.g. improve electronic or mechanical systems for greater reliability
make experiential changes, e.g. add audience prompts that change how they interact with your piece
make contextual changes, e.g. physically reposition your piece on a waist-height plinth, or inside of a curtain-enclosed space
make presentational changes, e.g. prepare to dress as a character who will introduce your piece
there are many, many possible changes which are not listed here!
Your piece will be on public exhibition and as such, it should have "wall text" to appropriately introduce the piece to your audience. Typical wall text in an art setting is written onto a small white card mounted near the piece, and includes the name of the piece, the year it was created, the name of the artist, a listing of materials used in its fabrication, and some further information or discussion. You may wish to omit the wall text if your piece is, for instance, intentionally hidden or otherwise posing as something other than art.
