In my iterations for the design I flipped between a flower version where the title would be Grow Yourself, but depending on the feedback today I think my title will still be Weigh Yourself.
above I have been exploring the layout for my backboard - how things are going to be organized as well as proportions.
I decided how big my pulleys should be in proportion to the board and the baskets I a making. IN illustrator everything I have hear has inch measurements to them. The big Wheels are 3 inches and the smaller ones an inch and a quarter. The blue circles show where the printed slips on the ball bearings will line up with the laser cut and engraved pully faces.
I also played with and downloaded a bunch of fonts, because I felt like that was important to capturing the vision of the composition. I think I decided on this font called antsy pants.
Here you can see further exploration of the visual themes. Hoping to dcide on a final today so I can lazer cutt the backing. I have decided on the pin board aethetic, as this will making placing the pulleys in the board adjustable incase of any last minute mistakes, and it gives a crafty appearance, like it would be set in a classroom.
I have also given some thought as to the charms that will be made. I have decided to color code the charms so the system is easier to understand. Hoping to get some feedback on those.
These are the pulley wheels I 3D printed last night. The ball bearings are friction fit in the centers of each donut.
I am having trouble knowing whether the charms and output of this machine are too vague. I think in my last project I have expressed that I like that idea of vagueness and I want to make sure it is appropriate here. In the version above with direct messages as the output the meaning of the machine is less vague, but I feel like i don't like that type of directness and I preferer the versions that are more up to interpretation. I am considering having a little guide to the charms though on the side of the installation during the showcase though.
Going forward my next step is to set up the laser cutter to cut out the backboard, pulley covers, and backboard stand. (also I have it as a stand now just for ease, but Ideally I imagine this being hung on a wall, but that can be a latter problem). Then I need to crochet or figgure out a differnt way to make the baskets, and then lastly make the charms. I think this is doable for the time given as most of what needs to be done is craft based.
