Town Centre Foodie Walk
Town Centre Foodie Walk
In September and October, we went for several walks around Arbroath town centre and visited a number of restaurants that we want to recommend to you as a visitor to Arbroath. Please follow along our journey and visit some of the amazing food places in Arbroath.
When walking, please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that are suitable for the weather. It was really sunny when we went on our walk so we needed less clothes and sunglasses but sometimes it is very cold and very wet. This is because Arbroath is right next to the North Sea!
The route above takes 1 hour 30 minutes.
It is 5683 steps.
There are lots drop kerbs along the walk if you have prams or wheelchairs. There are also a set of toilets next to the harbour, should you need to use them.
Marco's
Marco's On The Shore is a popular family-run fish and chip shop by the harbour known for fresh fish, generous portions and fast food options like pizza and burgers.
Their contact telephone number is 01241 430992.
Marco's is open Monday to Sunday 11:00am to 9:30pm
Marco's is in a great location: near the harbour with a nice view all year round.
If you are thinking, well what if I can't find it? Use our map and look out for the big pink building!
Finn and his group said "Marco’s On The Shore is this really fun fish-and-chips shop by the harbour in Arbroath. You go to 10 Shore and you can see the boats outside while you wait for your food. They make the fish with a crispy batter and serve big portions of chips, and they also have yummy ice cream for dessert. The place opens around 11 am every day and it’s bright and busy, so it feels lively when you go with your family. If you like watching seagulls and eating hot food by the sea, this is a super choice!"
The Boat Yard
They open from 10 am most days (for breakfast, lunch, etc.).
They are closed on Tuesdays.
The restaurant overlooks the harbour in Arbroath, giving a seaside/coastal feel.
They focus on fresh, locally‐sourced seafood (and other good stuff). For example: Scottish seafood, locally caught lobsters and steaks.
Menu items: they serve the famous local dish the Arbroath Smokie (smoked haddock) in different ways.
They also offer “Scottish high teas” (afternoon tea style meals) on certain days.
Being right by the harbour means you can enjoy the view while you eat. Great for a relaxed or special outing.
Sophie and her group said, "I went to The Old Boatyard Restaurant by the harbour in Arbroath and it was super cool because you could see the sea and fishing boats right outside the window. They serve lots of fresh Scottish seafood like locally caught lobsters and the special “Arbroath Smokie” smoked haddock. The building is by Fishmarket Quay and opens in the morning from 10 am (though it’s closed on Tuesdays) so you could even go early for a treat. If you go in summer there’s outdoor seating so you can eat your dinner in the sun and watch the waves. I really liked the idea of that!"

Andreou's Bistro
Andreou’s Bistro is located at 57 High Street, Arbroath, DD11 1AN. It opened in January 2018, bringing Greek/Cypriot cuisine to the town, founded by owner-chef Andrew McDonald whose family roots are Greek‐Cypriot.
The menu is Mediterranean/Greek with Cypriot influences:
There are meze platters (a variety of small dishes) and Greek favourites like halloumi, souvlaki, lamb kofta, moussaka.
They cater for many diets: vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
Andreou's is amazing as it brings something different to Arbroath (the only Greek/Cypriot style place in that neighbourhood) and uses some imported ingredients from Cyprus/Greece.
Andreou's is closed on Mondays. On Tuesday to Thursday, it’s open from 4:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday it is open from12:00pm.
Andreou's is a great place for a group or a family to visit as it offers relaxed meals where you share plates.
Poppy and her group said: Andreou’s Bistro is this colourful Greek-Cypriot restaurant on High Street in Arbroath where you get to feel like you’re on holiday in the Med, even though you’re still in Scotland. They cook dishes like gyros, halloumi, moussaka and loads of meze (little plates to share) and they have vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options too — so everyone can find something yummy. It’s got a relaxed and friendly vibe, and it even won a big food award for being the best Mediterranean place around here.
