In 2021, Briana felt a strong calling to give back and began searching for a place where she could make a meaningful impact. That search led her to A Mother's Hope, whose mission immediately resonated with her. She started volunteering at the Gala that year, where she witnessed an incredible outpouring of love and support for the moms and babies the program serves.
Over the following years, Briana continued to volunteer, often covering evening shifts at the house to support staff during meetings and consistently assisting at the annual Gala. In 2024, she took a deeper step into the work by becoming a part-time Resident Assistant, which allowed her to build closer relationships with residents and contribute more directly to their journey.
Briana holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Sociology from The Ohio State University and has spent many years working in addiction services, where she helped adults navigate housing, legal issues, and connect with vital community resources. This experience has shaped her approach to supporting individuals in need, and she brings this expertise to her current role at A Mother's Hope.
In 2025, Briana transitioned into a full-time role as Business Manager, where her primary focus is ensuring that the necessary resources and administrative support are in place to help the organization run smoothly. She continues to work part-time as a Resident Assistant, allowing her to maintain a hands-on connection with the residents while also fulfilling her organizational strengths in the office.
Briana is excited to continue making a difference both behind the scenes and in the lives of the women served at A Mother's Hope.
"I love being a part of A Mother's Hope and working with a team of uplifting women. It is inspirational to experience and be a part of every resident's journey. You can just feel the love and support surrounding everyone. I enjoy knowing I could be making an impact on someone's life and helping them see their self worth. I also love being around the babies and making them smile and laugh. A Mother's Hope is making a huge impact and it is a privilege to be a part of that."

Florisela is a dedicated care coordinator whose passion for supporting children and families has guided her career from the very beginning. She has always been drawn to helping children grow, develop, and succeed, but she was later given the opportunity to also walk alongside mothers—supporting them as they work to create stability, healing, and hope for themselves and their children. She believes that everything begins at the earliest moments of life, even before birth, and considers it an honor to serve within an organization rooted in love, compassion, and encouragement for mothers facing challenging times.
Her journey began in high school, where she discovered her interest in working with children. This led her to gain hands-on experience in daycare settings, witnessing developmental milestones—from a baby sitting up for the first time to a child stepping into their first day of elementary school. Being part of these moments deepened her passion for helping children grow into their own unique selves.
While earning her degree in Human Services from Purdue University Fort Wayne, Florisela further expanded her experience through internships at Erin’s House, where she learned how both children and adults process grief, and at Benchmark Family Services, where she gained valuable insight into the foster care system and therapeutic care.
From her early work with infants and school-age children to her current role supporting pregnant women—and later meeting their babies after birth—Florisela feels truly blessed. Walking alongside mothers from the moment they arrive at A Mother’s Hope to the day they confidently move forward reminds her daily of the strength, beauty, and possibility found in every new beginning.
"I believe everything begins before birth—hope, strength, and the quiet promise of who we can become. Walking beside these mothers and their babies reminds me every day that life’s beauty starts in small moments of courage."
Bruce Cadwell has been a dedicated volunteer with A Mother’s Hope since its earliest beginnings, becoming involved even before residents moved into the home. A retired facilities manager from St Vincent Parish, Bruce brings decades of experience in maintenance, problem solving, and project coordination, along with a deep commitment to service and community care.
At A Mother’s Hope, Bruce supports the organization through a wide range of hands on projects. His work has included lawn and property care, safety and maintenance oversight, coordinating major facility improvements, and assisting with ongoing upkeep to ensure the home remains a safe and welcoming environment for women, babies, and children. He also regularly mobilizes support from the Knights of Columbus, helping organize volunteer efforts and service hours that benefit the home and residents.
Bruce and his wife Julie have three children and eight grandchildren, and his love for family strongly influences his passion for serving mothers and babies. For Bruce, volunteering at A Mother’s Hope is a vocation rooted in compassion, generosity, and a belief in showing up wherever help is needed. His steady presence and servant heart continue to play a vital role in the daily life and long term sustainability of A Mother’s Hope.
"Good works don't come from your brain. They come from your heart... This has been probably the greatest joy that I've had, as far as being a servant. I wish I could put that feeling in a jar, open it up in front of the community and say, 'This is what it's about.'"
Courtney graduated from Ball State University in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in General Studies, concentrating in Social Work and the Psychology of Human Development. During her time at Ball State, she participated in the Teacher’s Scholar Program, working closely with a faculty mentor on research related to substance abuse on campus. Through this experience, she gained a strong understanding of the importance of community education and collaboration in addressing social issues. She supported her professor by hosting informational tables and assisting with campus events.
Courtney completed an internship at Erin’s House for Grieving Children as a Program Assistant, where she helped families check in for group sessions, provided support to facilitators, and worked closely with the Program Leader to ensure smooth program operations. Inspired by her internship, she developed a passion for supporting grieving children and now volunteers as a Grief Group Facilitator for children ages 3–5.
In her current role as Program Assistant, Courtney works closely with the Program Coordinator to maintain efficient operations both in the office and at the house. Her responsibilities include data tracking, managing weekly staff schedules, assisting with technology needs, maintaining the waiting list and resident files, overseeing household inventory, and creating event flyers for residents.
