RECOMMENDATION: For ease of activation, quality of service, and reliability, AMCOM recommends cellular internet services to our members. ADSL internet Subscription & un-subscription through AMCOM may take up to 3 weeks & the service is prone to outage due to poor telephone line infrastructure .
For those who don't receive a strong cell signal, wish to have a backup connection to their cellular service, or want the convenience of paying AMCOM to service their accounts, the AMCOM ADSL support service may fit the bill.
For All Offical memebrs Internet is available in Addis Ababa in the form of mobile 5G,4G (LTE)/3G, ADSL and fiber broadband. Service is moderately expensive, sometimes unreliable, and offered mainly through a government-run provider, Ethio Telecom (ETC). Recently, the market has opened up to allow other Internet providers such as Safaricom. However, Safaricom internet service infrastructure is not fully operational. Internet quality can vary by residence, and while ADSL is available to all residences in our housing pool.They have limited line of site to give the Air fiber service. You and your family should be prepared for possible service interruptions. Support for residential internet is not a USG provided service, but given the local conditions, AMCOM offers fee-based ADSL connection and support services to association members. Cellular Internet
If you want to access the internet through your mobile device or router, you need to follow these steps:
1. Purchase a SIM card or E-SIM from the commissary for $10. It will take Few hours for Physical SIM card to be activate and Three working days activate your E-SIM card.
2. Choose a monthly or yearly plan for your SIM card:
Option 1:
Pay $21.60 per month for unlimited data only, or $28.80 per month for unlimited data and voice. You can buy this plan at the commissary and start using the internet on the same day. You can also subscribe to automatic renewals on the 1st of every month by emailing amcomhelpdesk@amcomaddis.org. To cancel this subscription, please email the same address.
Option 2:
Pay $89.48 per year plus 10% AMCOM service charge for data only. Fill out this form to apply:

Buy any other airtime at the commissary or by emailing amcomhelpdesk@amcomaddis.org and buy packages by dialing *999#.
Note:
Your annual plan will start working on the first day of the month.
To check your network reception before subscribing to an annual plan, AMCOM recommends you first buy the monthly plan.
You will need to provide your own SIM-capable WIFI/router device.
This service is provided through ETC's Cellular Network. Download speeds depend on a user's distance from a cell tower, and the network congestion levels. Users report speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 40 Mbps..

ADSL - Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line
ETC offers two levels of support for ADSL connections. The standard level of support is what is offered to the vast majority of customers in Ethiopia (45 Million Customers). VIP Support is offered only to large organizations and certain Diplomatic Missions. While ETC won't offer VIP service to individuals, they do offer it to AMCOM through its relationship with the U.S. Embassy. AMCOM offers fee-based support ( $10 /month) to full AMCOM members wishing to take advantage of our account management services and expedited support response. This service is only available to AMCOM Full Members.
Fees are in the below link excluding $10 monthly service charge fee paid to AMCOM, equivalent USD will be charged to subscribing customer.

Top Up Your Phone from Home
You don't need to go to the commissary to top up your Ethio Telecom SIM card! Just send an email to amcomhelpdesk@amcomaddis.org with the phone number and the amount of Birr you want added to the account (min. 100 Birr). AMCOM will add the money to the SIM card and charge your AMCOM account. You will receive a text message from Ethio Telecom when it is done!
Dial *804# on your phone to find out what your current Birr balance is.
Dial *999# on your phone to purchase packages after your balance has been topped up.
The highest package is one month of unlimited voice and data for 2,500 Birr (about $20).
You can top up phones for multiple people in your family in one email.
