In this three part study, I will cover 25 different arguments used by all seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians as to why they sincerely believe with all their heart that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY to please God by not breaking the fourth commandment in their eyes.
We will cover 23 Old Testament passages of Scripture in parts 1 and 2 and then we will cover 15 passages of Scripture in the New Testament in part 3.
The Sabbath-keeping interpretations of these 38 passages of Scripture are all of the major arguments for why Sabbath-keeping Christians believe that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
There may be a few Scriptures that I do not cover but the argument itself is covered in this three part study.
With that being said let us begin with weekly Sabbath DAY argument number one.
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #1. Genesis 2:1-3.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Genesis 2:1-3 to argue that God gave the keeping of the weekly Sabbath day based upon God blessing the seventh day and God resting or ceasing from all His works that He did on the seventh day.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #1.
Genesis 2:1-3 is a PROPHECY of God’s yet future Seventh 1000 year long day Sabbath REST during the world to come while Jesus rules FOR Yahweh as the Lord of the Sabbath.
Please read the LITERAL translation of the Textus Receptus which is the same manuscript used to translate the King James Version of the Bible.
But just mere common sense should tell you that God has not rested a single day since restoring the earth to be habitable again after it became void during the war with Satan and the fallen angels.
God is still working on us to be conformed into the image of His dear Son, Jesus.
Here is the LITERAL Genesis 2:1-3.
“And they ARE BEING FINISHED the heavens and the earth and all the host of them.
Genesis 2:2. And He is FINISHING Elohim in day the SEVENTH work of Him which He did and He is CEASING in day of SEVENTH from all work which He did.
Genesis 2:3. And He is blessing day of SEVENTH and He is MAKING HOLY HIM that in HIM he CEASED from all work of Him which He Elohim created to to do of.”
So then, God is still working on making man in His IMAGE by first making His human Son Jesus in His own image to become that first born of every creature, the first born from the dead, the first born among many brethren.
And God is FINISHING His work of creating NEW creatures in Jesus in or during the Seventh 1000-year long day from the re-creation or the restoration of the earth in Genesis chapter 1.
And to me, Genesis 2:1-3 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.

Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #2. Genesis 26:5.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Genesis 26:5 to argue that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam in the Garden of Eden.
They argue, how ELSE could Abraham obey all the law and commandments of God?
Therefore, to them, the TEN Commandments HAD to have been given to Adam at creation week.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #2.
When God gave the one commandment to Adam and Eve to not eat of the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, did Abraham keep THAT commandment?
No! Of course not because that commandment was given specifically to Adam and Eve ONLY.
When God gave the commandment to Noah to build the ark did Abraham keep THAT commandment of God?
No! Of course not because that commandment was given specifically to Noah ONLY.
So then, the law and commandments that Abraham kept were the laws and commandments that God gave specifically to Abraham ONLY to obey. ANY instruction that God decrees is God’s law and commandments.
The law given to Abraham was the one central instruction to offer his only begotten Son to God.
And the commandments are all the different instructions on how Abraham was to offer his son Isaac.
And Abraham obeyed all the law and commandments that God gave specifically ONLY to Abraham to obey.
Therefore, Genesis 26:5 does NOT prove that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
In Genesis 21:4, God gave the commandment to Abraham to circumcise his son Isaac being eight days old, and Abraham OBEYED all the law and commandments of God.
So then, the fact that God ADDED the Law of Moses and the TEN Commandments because of transgression, according to Galatians 3:16,17, does NOT mean that God HAD to have given the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
Therefore, the weekly Sabbath day argument saying, for how ELSE would Abraham know WHAT law and commandments to obey, is meaningless?
And the argument of how could Abraham obey what had not yet been given until 430 years later, if so be that the TEN Commandments were not given to Adam at creation week, is MEANINGLESS? Can you not see that Abraham did not NEED the TEN Commandments to know to obey the VOICE of Almighty God commanding him what to do.
Read Genesis 26:5 again so you can see the TRUTH that God SPOKE specifically to Abraham and Abraham obeyed the VOICE of God.
And that is HOW Abraham knew the law and commandments to OBEY that Yahweh SPOKE to him specifically.
The VOICE of God is God’s LAW and COMMANDMENTS.
Genesis 26:5.
“Because that Abraham obeyed My VOICE, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
Therefore, Genesis 26:5 does NOT prove that God gave the FOURTH commandment to Adam in the Garden of Eden at creation week.
And thus, Genesis 26:5 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #3. Exodus 16:23a, 28-30.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Exodus 16:28-30 to argue that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam in the Garden of Eden.
For how ELSE could the children of Israel have KNOWN to keep the weekly Sabbath day to REST on the seventh day?
Therefore, the TEN Commandments HAD to have been given to Adam at creation week.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #3.
The short answer is that Moses TAUGHT the children of Israel for the very FIRST time HOW to rest on the seventh day.
Please read the in-depth study Dd-7. WHAT DOES EXODUS 16:28-30 TRULY MEAN?
But for now, simply read Deuteronomy 5:2-4 to know and understand that the FOURTH commandment was NOT given to ANYONE before God gave the TEN Commandments to the children of Israel in Mount Horeb AFTER God delivered them out of bondage in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 5:2-4.
“The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deuteronomy 5:3. The LORD made NOT this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Deuteronomy 5:4. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,”
So then, NEITHER the FOURTH commandment NOR ANY of the TEN Commandments were given to ANYONE before God delivered the children of Israel out of bondage in the land of Egypt.
All of the MORAL law of God was written in the CONSCIENCE of every human being AFTER Adam and Eve ate from the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil to KNOW what is right and what is wrong by the CONSCIENCE.
This is how Cain knew that it was wrong to hate his brother and to envy God’s love and attention that God gave to Abel.
God reasoned with Cain in his MIND through his CONSCIENCE.
So again, there is no need for the TEN Commandments to have been given to Adam at creation week.
And thus, Exodus 16:23a, 28-30 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.

Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #4. Exodus 20:8.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Exodus 20:8, which says REMEMBER the Sabbath to keep it Holy, to argue that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam in the Garden of Eden.
For how ELSE could the children of Israel have KNOWN to rest on the seventh day?
They argue that you cannot remember to keep the Sabbath BEFORE the FOURTH commandant was ever given to them.
Therefore, they conclude that the TEN Commandments HAD to have been given to Adam at creation week and then handed down by word of mouth in order for Israel to know to REMEMBER the Sabbath day.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #4.
Exodus 20:8 does NOT mean that the children of Israel are to remember that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was given to Adam in the Garden of Eden at creation week.
See the sound Bible answer of the true meaning of Genesis 2:1-3 in the LITERAL translation as being a PROPHECY of Yahweh’s rest in or during the Seventh 1000 year long day in the world to come.
Here again is the LITERAL translation of Genesis 2:1-3.
“And they ARE BEING FINISHED the heavens and the earth and all the host of them.

And neither does Exodus 20:8 mean that the children of Israel are to remember the keeping of the weekly Sabbath that their forefathers taught them BEFORE the children of Israel went into bondage in the Land of Egypt.
Simple read again Deuteronomy 5:2-4.
“The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deuteronomy 5:3. The LORD made NOT this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Deuteronomy 5:4. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,”
So then, NEITHER the FOURTH commandment NOR ANY of the TEN Commandments were given to ANYONE before God delivered the children of Israel out of bondage in the land of Egypt.
And thus, Exodus 20:8 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
In TRUTH, the word “REMEMBER” is referring back to Exodus chapter 16 which is when the children of Israel were TAUGHT for the FIRST time HOW to rest on the seventh day by their gathering Manna.
Also, the word “REMEMBER” has more than just the one meaning to recall.
The Hebrew word means to mark so as to be recognized. And the word recognize means to perceive, discern, understand and to IDENTIFY WHO the weekly Sabbath DAY is pointing to for the children of Israel to ACCEPT as their Messiah.
For an in-depth study on the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of the word “REMEMBER” the Sabbath to keep it Holy that literally reads “To remember the (H853) Sabbath to hallow him”, please read the study Dd-6. WHAT DOES EXODUS 20:8 TRULY MEAN?
The (H853) is the untranslated Aleph and Tav, the FIRST and the LAST letters of the Hebrew alphabet, like the Alpha and Omega are the FIRST and the LAST letters of the Greek alphabet.
And Jesus said, I am the FIRST and the LAST the BEGINNING and the END.
So to me, the untranslated H853 Aleph Tav should be translated as “Remember the (H853 Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) Sabbath to Hallow him.”
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #5. Exodus 31:16.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Exodus 31:16 to argue that the FOURTH commandment is an ETERNAL COMMANDMENT.
Therefore, they wrongly conclude that the keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY of rest is an ETERNAL commandment.
And thus, to THEM, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath day is BINDING on Christians lest they sin for not resting on the seventh DAY of every week for the rest of their lives.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #5.
First of all, Exodus 31:16 does NOT say that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath day is an eternal COMMANDMENT for ALL of mankind to keep Holy for all eternity.
But rather, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was given to the children of Israel for them to keep throughout their generations as a SIGN for a perpetual COVENANT and NOT for a perpetual COMMANDMENT.
Please read the in-depth study Dd-15. THE WEEKLY SABBATH DAY OF REST IS A SIGN!
But for now, simply read the WORDS in Exodus 31:12-17 for what it actually SAYS without reading into the Scriptures a preconceived belief that the keeping of weekly Sabbath DAY as a 24 hour DAY of rest was given to ALL of mankind as an ETERNAL commandment.
Exodus 31:11-17.
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Exodus 31:13. Speak you ALSO unto the children of Israel, (Remember that God spoke face to face with the children of Israel out of the fire in Mount Horeb the TEN Commandments.
But they were AFRAID to hear anymore from God so they asked Moses to go and hear the rest of what God has to say and then you come tell us what God said to you and we will do it.
So you can NOT make the Law of God and the Law of Moses as being TWO SEPARATE and DIFFERENT laws.
For you see, Yahweh commanded Moses to ALSO speak to the children of Israel and NOT to all of mankind) saying, Verily MY Sabbaths you shall keep: for it is a SIGN between Me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that does sanctify you. (This fourth commandment ceremonial law contained in ordinances was given to the children of Israel as a SCHOOLMASTER to lead them to Jesus FIRST.
And THEN the first Jewish Christians would lead the Gentiles to Jesus through the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Plain and simple, the fourth commandment was to the Jews FIRST and then AFTER the Messiah came and it was time, God turned the gospel of keeping the TRUE MEANING of the fourth commandment to REST in Messiah Jesus for HOLINESS)
Exodus 31:14. You shall keep the sabbath THEREFORE; for it (The literal translation says for HE) is holy unto you: every one that defiles it (HIM) shall surely be put to death: for whosoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. (The keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY as a 24 hour DAY of REST is a SIGN pointing to the NEW PERPETUAL COVENANT in Jesus Christ so that those who REST in Jesus for their holiness may enter the TRUE Seventh 1000-year long day of Yahweh’s rest in the world to come)
Exodus 31:15. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the Sabbath of REST, holy to the LORD: whosoever does any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 31:16. WHEREFORE the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual COVENANT. (And NOT for an eternal COMMANDMENT. God does not COMMAND the children of Israel or the Gentiles to keep the New Covenant established in the shed blood of Jesus.
But rather, God desires His chosen people keep the weekly Sabbath DAY in order the OBSERVE or DISCERN and UNDERSTAND what the SIGN of the 24 hour day of Sabbath REST is pointing to)
Exodus 31:17. It is a SIGN between Me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.”
So then, the fourth commandment is a CEREMONIAL commandment and NOT one of the SIX MORAL commandments that Jesus SPECIFICALLY stated in Matthew 19:17-19 as being the only commandments that are required to be kept in order to receive eternal life in the world to come.
And also, Colossians 2:14-17 and Ephesians 2:15 clearly teach us in SIMPLICITY that ORDINANCES contained in the law of commandments were abolished and nailed to the cross.
Therefore, Christians are NOT obligated to keep any of the ORDINANCES contained in the ceremonial commandments of the keeping of DAYS.
And thus, the keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY as a 24 hour day of REST is NOT binding on Christians.
But if an unsaved person wants to be saved then an UNSAVED person MUST keep the TRUE MEANING of the SIGN of the fourth commandment that the SIGN points to.
That is why God placed the FOURTH commandment in the CENTER of His law of the TEN Commandments.
God wanted the THIRD and FOURTH commandments to stand out above the other TEN Commandments.
To learn the TRUE MEANING of why the keeping of a 24 hour day of rest was given in the first place, please read the study Dd-15. THE WEEKLY SABBATH DAY OF REST IS A SIGN!
But for now, please know that Exodus 31:12-17 does NOT prove that Christians must keep the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY as being Holy or esteemed above any other day.
And thus, Exodus 31:16 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #6. Leviticus 23:4-37 along with Leviticus 23:38.
Now, to my knowledge it is ONLY the Seventh Day Adventist seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians that use Leviticus 23:38 to argue that all of the ceremonial FEASTS days are DIFFERENT from the weekly Sabbath day because it says BESIDE the Sabbath.
They argue that the word “BESIDE” means APART FROM. Therefore, they conclude that Leviticus 23:38 means that the weekly Sabbath day is ABOVE and DIFFERENT from all the other Sabbaths that are called the FEAST days.
And thus, they conclude that the Apostle Paul never intended his words to mean that the word “SABBATH DAYS” in Colossians 2:16 means the WEEKLY Sabbath days.
And therefore, to THEM, Paul MUST be speaking about the Sabbaths of the yearly FEAST days.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #6.
Please notice that the leaders of the SDA Church do NOT quote the WHOLE verse of Scripture.
And they only use ONE of the meanings of the word “beside” to argue that the weekly Sabbath is to be kept APART FROM the rest of the Sabbaths called the feast days.
They do this because they NEED to do it so they can argue against the teachings of the Apostle Paul in Colossians 2:14-17 where the ORDINANCES of the Sabbath DAYS were nailed to the cross.
In other words, they must somehow SEPARATE the weekly Sabbath days to be APART FROM the yearly Sabbaths that are called FEAST days so that they can argue that Jesus did NOT nail the ordinances of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAYS to the cross.
Otherwise they could not be able to explain AWAY Paul's clear teaching in Colossians 2:14-17 that the weekly Sabbath is a SHADOW pointing to Jesus as the TRUE Sabbath rest.
So then, in TRUTH, the word “BESIDE” also means IN ADDITION to all of the other Sabbaths called the FEAST days.
Simply read the WHOLE verse in Leviticus 23:38 but first let us read it out of context the way that the SDA Church teaches to show how they are deceiving Christians.
Leviticus 23:37a,38a.
“These are the FEASTS of the LORD,...
…Leviticus 23:38. BESIDE the Sabbaths of the LORD,...”
Now let us read all of verse 37 through 39 to learn the TRUE meaning of the word “BESIDE” in this context means in ADDITION to and NOT APART FROM.
Leviticus 23:37-39.
“These are the FEASTS of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon His day:
Leviticus 23:38. BESIDE the Sabbaths of the LORD, and BESIDE your gifts, and BESIDE all your vows, and BESIDE all your freewill offerings, which you give unto the LORD.
Leviticus 23:39. ALSO in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a Sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Sabbath.”
So clearly, the context teaches us the TRUE meaning of the word “BESIDE” as meaning in ADDITION to the YEARLY feast days you also must keep the WEEKLY Sabbath FEAST days.
And most likely, NONE of the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping churches have ever told you that the WEEKLY Sabbaths are ALSO called FEAST days and a Holy day, according to Leviticus 23:2,3 and Exodus 35:2.
Please read Leviticus 23:2,3.
“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the FEASTS of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, EVEN THESE ARE My FEASTS.
Leviticus 23:3. Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; you shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.”
Now read Exodus 35:2.
“Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever does work therein shall be put to death.”
So how can anyone use Leviticus 23:38 or any other verse of Scripture to argue that the Apostle Paul MUST mean the yearly Sabbath days that are called FEAST days and could NEVER mean the weekly Sabbath days in Colossians 2:14-17.
The TRUTH of the matter is that Paul did, INDEED, mean that Jesus nailed the ORDINANCES contained in the ceremonial commandment of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY to the cross so that we can now keep the SPIRIT of the law under the New Covenant and NOT the LETTER of the law under the Old Covenant.

But for now, please know and understand that Leviticus 23:38 does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #7. Deuteronomy 31:24-26 plus 1 Kings 8:9.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Deuteronomy 31:26 to argue that the TEN Commandments on the two stone tablets INSIDE of the Ark, according to 1 Kings 8:9 is a DIFFERENT LAW than from what Moses wrote by his hand in a book and placed on the SIDE of the Ark, as in, on the OUTSIDE of the Ark.
And, therefore, the SDA Church concludes that while all of the FEAST days were, indeed, nailed to the cross, the FOURTH commandment could have never been nailed to the cross because the TEN COMMANDMENTS were placed INSIDE of the Ark.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #7.
Now, to my knowledge, it is only the Seventh Day Adventist Church, that I will abbreviate as the SDA Church, is the only church denomination among the Sabbath-keeping church denominations that believes the yearly feast days are NOT binding on Christians.
But yet, because of their “indoctrination” of the weekly Sabbath day being binding on Christian, some of them have not yet seen the TRUTH that the ordinances contained in the fourth commandment have also been abolished and nailed to the cross, according to the teachings in the New Testament under the New Covenant.
So then, in order for the SDA Church to get around these New Testament Scriptures they need to try and prove that the Law of Moses is a DIFFERENT LAW from the Law of God.
And they try to use this SAME argument over and over by using different verses of Scripture as you will see as you continue this study in God’s word.
Here is what the SDA Christians believe. They believe that the Law of God is the TEN COMMANDMENTS and everything else in the Old Testament is the Law of Moses written in what is called the book of the law.
Now, when you do a word search on E-Sword using the EXACT phrase the “book of the law” you will find that it is found 19 times in the King James Version of the Bible.
And when you read the CONTEXT in the book of Nehemiah you will find that the book of the law is called the Law of God.
In other words, the Law of God and the Law of Moses are the SAME law, according to what the Bible ITSELF teaches us.
Let us go ahead and read a few verses of Scripture in Nehemiah so you can see this TRUTH for yourself.
Nehemiah 8:1.
“And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.”
Nehemiah 8:8.
“So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.”
Nehemiah 8:18.
“Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.”
Nehemiah 10:28.
“And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;”
And when you read Nehemiah 9:3 the SAME book of the Law of Moses is called the book of the Law of Yahweh.
And mere common sense should teach anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear that since Almighty God Yahweh Himself COMMANDED Moses to write down the book of the law then it MUST be the very Law of God.
But the SDA Christians argue that the TEN Commandments were placed INSIDE of the Ark and the book of the Law of Moses was placed on the SIDE of the Ark, as in, on the outside of the Ark.
And therefore, they conclude that the Law of Moses must be a DIFFERENT LAW.
But, in TRUTH, it is the SAME LAW that has the FOURTH commandment, the Holy Sabbath of Yahweh written in the book of the Law of Moses.
In other words, ALL of the ORDINANCES contained in ALL of the Sabbaths, INCLUDING the WEEKLY Sabbaths were placed on the OUTSIDE of the Ark.
And both Colossians 2:14-17 and Ephesians 2:15 clearly teach us that all of the laws contained in ORDINANCES were abolished and nailed to the cross.
Please read Nehemiah 9:13,14.
“You came down also upon mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
Nehemiah 9:14. And made known unto them Your Holy Sabbath, and commanded them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses Your servant:”
So then, Deuteronomy 31:26 and 1 Kings 8:9 do NOT prove that the TEN Commandments are a DIFFERENT LAW than the Law of Moses.
For you see, since the FOURTH commandment is written down by the HANDWRITING of Moses contained in STATUTES or ORDINANCES, then ORDINANCES contained in the FOURTH commandment were, indeed, NAILED to the cross just like the Apostle said in Colossians 2:14.
And thus, Deuteronomy 31:26 and 1 Kings 8:9 do NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
So I implore all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians to read the in-depth studies Dd-3. WHAT DOES COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 TRULY MEAN? and Dd-5. WHATS DOES CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES MEAN?
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #8. 2 Kings 21:8.
Again, it seems or appears that it is only the SDA Christians who use this Sabbath argument of two SEPARATE DIFFERENT laws.
They argue over and over that the Law of God which they say is the TEN Commandments in one law and the Law of Moses is ANOTHER law using different verses of Scripture.
And again, they do this solely for the reason of their argument that the word “Sabbath” in Colossians 2:16 does NOT mean the WEEKLY Sabbath days.
For you see, if they can NOT explain away Colossians 2:14-17 then they MUST concede that they are WRONG about making the KEEPING of the weekly Sabbath DAY as a MANDATORY day of rest lest a Christian SINS.
So they search the Old Testament Scriptures to try and find any shred of evidence that they can use to try and explain away Colossians 2:14-17.
And in 2 Kings 21:8 they FOCUS on and emphasize the conjunction “AND” to mean ALSO so that they can try and prove that the Law of God and the Law of Moses are two DIFFERENT laws.
Here is how THEY read 2 Kings 21:8.
“Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, AND according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #8. 2 Kings 21:8.
Here is 2 Kings 21:8 compared to the same account as 2 Chronicles 33:8 which reads so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them ACCORDING to the WHOLE law and statutes and ordinances by the hand of Moses.
Please read 2 Chronicles 33:8.
“Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, ACCORDING to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.”
Can you not see how the SDA Church “cherry picks” only verses of Scripture that they can take out of context and twist to fit their INTERPRETATION that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was given to ALL of mankind.
And, therefore, they conclude that it is binding on Christians to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY.
The SDA Church knows full well that the handwriting of ordinances contained in the feast day Sabbaths have, indeed, been abolished and nailed to the cross.
But because all seventh DAY of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians are so FOCUSED on keeping the LETTER of the law they have blinded their own eyes to the TRUTH that Christians are to keep the SPIRIT of the law and NOT the LETTER of the law contained in ORDINANCES.
They have failed to see that the FOURTH commandment is a CEREMONIAL commandment and NOT a MORAL commandment.
The only way that they can argue against the word Sabbath days in Colossians 2:16 is to TRY and prove that there are TWO laws.
The Law of God, which they CLAIM is ONLY the TEN Commandments, and the Law of Moses, which they CLAIM is everything else BUT the TEN Commandments.
And they have several verses of Scripture that they use for this ONE argument that there are TWO different laws.
But the TRUTH remains that same that there is just ONE law that God commanded Moses to command to the children of Israel and NOT to the Gentiles.
The prophets AND the law was given to the children of Israel as a SCHOOLMASTER to lead them to Messiah Jesus.
And then, in the fullness of time, the Jewish Christians were commanded by God to preach the SAME gospel of salvation to the Gentiles.
In Nehemiah 8:1 we read about the book of the Law of Moses. Then in verse 8, we read that the SAME book of the Law of Moses is called the book of the Law of God.
Nehemiah 8:1,8,18.
“1. And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel…
…Nehemiah 8:8. So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading…
…Nehemiah 8:18. Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.”
Now, in the same context in the next chapter they are still reading out of the SAME book of the Law of God, but here is where I saw something that I never saw before.
The book of the Law of Moses,which is one and the same as the book of the Law of God that was put in the SIDE of the Ark and NOT INSIDE of the Ark, contains far more than just the TEN Commandments and the yearly feast day commandments.
The book of the Law of Moses contains all the accounts that we read in Exodus about the miracles God did before Pharaoh.
Nehemiah 9:3,5b-22.
“And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they CONFESSED, and worshipped the LORD their God…
Nehemiah 9:5b. ...Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be Your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. (Then they CONFESS what they READ in the book of the Law of Moses, the Law of God for the other fourth part of the day)
Nehemiah 9:6. You, even You, are LORD alone; You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and You preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships You.
Nehemiah 9:7. You are the LORD the God, who did choose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham; (Keep in mind that they are CONFESSING what they just READ in the book of the Law of Moses that is also called the book of the Law of God and the book of the Law of Yahweh.
So to me, Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai writing the entire Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible which is called the book of the Law of Moses in Nehemiah 8:1 and the book of the Law of God in verses 8 and 18, and the book of the Law of Yahweh in Nehemiah 9:3)
Nehemiah 9:8. And found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and have performed Your words; for You are righteous:
Nehemiah 9:9. And did see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red sea;
Nehemiah 9:10. And showed signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for You knew that they dealt proudly against them. So did You get You a name, as it is this day.
Nehemiah 9:11. And You did divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors You threw into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
Nehemiah 9:12. Moreover You led them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
Nehemiah 9:13. You came down also upon mount Sinai, and spake with them from heaven, and gave them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
Nehemiah 9:14. And made known unto them Your holy sabbath, and commanded them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses Thy servant: (Remember they are CONFESSING what they READ in the book of the Law of Moses.
And if the FOURTH commandment is in the Law of Moses, then so are the ORDINANCES contained in the fourth commandment along with the rest of the TEN Commandments.
So to try and argue that the TEN Commandments is a DIFFERENT law than the Law of Moses is simply ignorance of the word of Almighty God)
Nehemiah 9:15. And gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promised them that they should go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them.
Nehemiah 9:16. But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to Your commandments,
Nehemiah 9:17. And refused to obey, neither were mindful of Your wonders that You did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.
Nehemiah 9:18. Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is your god that brought you up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;
Nehemiah 9:19. Yet You in Your manifold mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way wherein they should go.
Nehemiah 9:20. You gave also Your good spirit to instruct them, and withheld not Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.
Nehemiah 9:21. Yea, forty years did You sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
Nehemiah 9:22. Moreover…”
Can you not see that there are NOT two different laws as the SDA Church CLAIMS?
The TEN Commandments are ALSO written in the Law of Moses.
And thus, this Sabbath-keeping argument of there being two different laws does NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
REMEMBER that ALL of the handwriting of ORDINANCES were placed on the OUTSIDE of the Ark INCLUDING the handwriting of ORDINANCE contained in the FOURTH commandment.
And all SDA Christians know full well that ALL of the handwriting of ordinances were NAILED to the cross.
Again, it is NOT the fourth commandment ITSELF that Jesus abolished and nailed to the cross.
But rather, it is the ORDINANCES contained in the fourth commandment that Jesus abolished and nailed to the cross.

Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #9. 1 Chronicles 16:15.
All the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use 1 Chronicles 16:15 that says to always be mindful of His covenant, the word He has COMMANDED for a 1000 generations means that the TEN Commandments were commanded to be kept for all eternity.
And then they conclude that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians for all eternity.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #9.
First of all, they take verse 15 OUT of its CONTEXT and the very next verse says, EVEN the covenant which He made with Abraham.
So this verse in 1 Chronicles 16:15 has nothing to do with the keeping of the fourth commandment for a 1000 generations.
Let us go ahead and read 1 Chronicles 16:15-17 to learn the true sound Biblical meaning of 1000 generations.
1 Chronicles 16:15-17.
“Be you mindful always of His covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
1 Chronicles 16:16. Even of the covenant which He made with Abraham, and of His oath unto Isaac;
1 Chronicles 16:17. And has confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,”
The Hebrew word translated as generations also means an AGE.
And since the CONTEXT is prophetic and speaks of the 1000-year reign of Jesus in the world to come to judge the earth, then this verse should read the word which He commanded to the AGE of a 1000 years.
For you see, after the 1000 years has ended the covenant that God made with Abraham will be made full or complete with all the people who will be saved, will be saved.
And thus, there will no longer need to be the covenant of PROMISE of whosoever will BELIEVE shall be saved because there will be no more people to be saved except the mortal people DURING the 1000-year AGE of Jesus.
So then, 1 Chronicles 16:15 has nothing whatsoever to do with the FOURTH commandment being given of all eternity. And thus, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is not binding on Christians.
Weekly Sabbath DAY argument #10. Psalm 19:7.
All seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use Psalm 19:7 to argue that the Law of God is PERFECT.
And therefore, they conclude that Christians must keep the Law of Moses under the New Covenant as well.
And they continue their argument by saying that part of the Law of Moses is to keep the FOURTH commandment.
And thus, to THEM, Psalm 19:7 proves that the keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
Sound Biblical answer to weekly Sabbath DAY argument #10.
All you need to do to understand the true meaning of Psalm 19:7 is to simply read this verse and pay attention to what it is actually saying.
It is saying that the law is a SCHOOLMASTER leading to Jesus and the New Covenant.
Psalm 19:7.
“The law of the LORD is perfect, CONVERTING the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, MAKING WISE the simple.”
Remember what Romans 1:20 says about the unsaved people being without excuse because by the very creation they can UNDERSTAND that there is a Creator God?
With that in mind that the creation declares the existence of a Creator let us now read the CONTEXT of Psalm 19:7.
Please read Psalm 19:1-8.
“The heavens DECLARE the glory of God; and the firmament SHOWS His handy work.
Psalm 19:2. Day unto day UTTERS SPEECH, and night unto night SHOWS KNOWLEDGE.
Psalm 19:3. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Psalm 19:4. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their WORDS to the end of the world. In them has He set a tabernacle for the sun, (Speaking of the Sun of righteousness, according to Malachi 4:2)
Psalm 19:5. Which is as a bridegroom coming out of His chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.
Psalm 19:6. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. (And in the same way that creation teaches us about God and His Son of righteous going forth to execute the HEAT of God’s wrath so does the LAW of Yahweh TEACH the children of Israel and us about Messiah Jesus to CONVERT the children of Israel and us to Jesus and the New PERPETUAL Covenant)
Psalm 19:7. The law of the LORD is perfect, CONVERTING the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, MAKING WISE the simple.
Psalm 19:8. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, ENLIGHTENING the eyes.”
Now read Galatians 3:22-26.
“But the Scripture has CONCLUDED ALL under sin, THAT the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Galatians 3:23. But before faith came, we (Speaking of the children of Israel who CONVERTED to the New PERPETUAL Covenant) were KEPT under the law, (Or protected and watched over by God while being under the law) shut up unto the faith (Or not yet understanding about salvation by FAITH) which should afterwards be revealed.
Galatians 3:24. WHEREFORE, (Or for this very reason of faith being REVEALED) the law was our SCHOOLMASTER to BRING (Or to CONVERT) us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Galatians 3:25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (Meaning that after a person BELIEVES then they are no longer under the law which are SHADOWS pointing to Jesus. And the MORAL laws of God are not shadows.
But all the Law of Moses contained in ORDINANCES are, indeed, shadows, types, and figures that TESTIFY of Jesus.
So again, it is NOT the fourth commandment ITSELF that Jesus abolished and nailed to the cross.
But rather, it is the ORDINANCES contained in the fourth commandment of the keeping of a 24 day of the week that Jesus abolished and nailed to the cross so that we can keep the SPIRIT and TRUE meaning of why the keeping of a DAY of rest was given to the children of Israel in the first place)
Galatians 3:26. For you (Both the Jewish Christians and the Gentile Christians) are ALL the children of God by FAITH in Christ Jesus.”
So then, NONE of the verses of Scripture that we have covered in part 1 of this three part study prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is binding on Christians.
And as you have seen, they have been taken OUT of their CONTEXT and then the Sabbath-keeping preconceived belief is read INTO those verses taken out of the context.
We must ALWAYS interpret the Old Testament Scriptures in the LIGHT of the New Testament Scriptures.
Anytime a Christian interprets the New Testament Scriptures by using the Old Testament Scriptures then ERROR is almost always the result.
And the doctrine of soul sleep is one such example of how Christians use verses of Scripture in the Old Testament to try to EXPLAIN AWAY the New Testament Scriptures.
