The Sabbath Was Given for the FIRST Time in Exodus 16!
Here are some simple FACTS that teach us in simplicity that God did NOT institute the keeping of the seventh day of the week as a day of rest until God TAUGHT the children of Israel to rest on the seventh day in Exodus chapter 16 by them gathering Manna to eat.
I will list ten facts first for the short quick answer and then if you would like all the Scriptures and a more in-depth study in the word of truth on this matter of keeping or not keeping the seventh day of the week as a day of rest then please read the WHOLE matter in those studies.
The ten sound Biblical facts are these:
FACT #1.
God shall be resting in the Seventh day which is the 1000-year reign of Jesus in which Jesus will rule for Yahweh while Jesus will be the Lord of the Sabbath during Yahweh’s seventh day of REST.
Scripture is written to be FULFILLED and Genesis 2:1-3 is a PROPHECY of Yahweh’s yet future seventh day of rest which He BLESSED or sanctified as being holy.
Please read the LITERAL translation but mere common sense should tell you that God has not rested a single day since re-creating the earth in Genesis chapter 1.
LITERAL translation of Genesis 2:1-3.
“And they ARE BEING FINISHED the heavens and the earth and all the host of them.
Genesis 2:2. And He is FINISHING Elohim in day the SEVENTH work of Him which He did and He is CEASING in day of SEVENTH from all work which He did.
Genesis 2:3. And He is blessing day of SEVENTH and he is MAKING HOLY HIM that in HIM He CEASED from all work of Him which He Elohim created to do of.”
FACT #2.
The ONLY command that God gave to Adam and Eve was to NOT eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And after Adam and Eve ate of the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, their eyes were opened to KNOW that they were naked and they were ASHAMED.
And thus, they hid themselves from God. It was that very day that mankind was given a CONSCIENCE to KNOW right from wrong.
Therefore, there is no need to dogmatically demand that the ONLY WAY they could have known sin is that God MUST HAVE given them the TEN Commandments to them at creation week which they handed down by word of mouth from generation to generation all the way to Moses.
But if that were true, then WHY did Almighty God Himself command Moses to give the TEN Commandments to the children of Israel, who supposedly already had the TEN Commandment handed down to them by word of mouth?
FACT #3.
Adam and Eve sinned because they disobeyed God's ONE commandment and NOT because they disobeyed one of the TEN Commandments of God.
And from that time forward, mankind has inherited a God given CONSCIENCE to know right from wrong.
And that is the “law” or “will” of God in their CONSCIENCE that mankind was given to follow.
The Gentiles who do not have the Law of God as the Jews obeyed the MORAL laws of God WITHOUT having the Law of Moses.
Please read Romans 2:14,15.
“For when the Gentiles, which have NOT the law, do by NATURE the things contained in the law, these, having NOT the law, are a law unto themselves:
Roman 2:15. Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their CONSCIENCE also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)”
FACT #4.
God gave the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY only to the CHILDREN of Israel as a SIGN pointing to their true rest in Jesus to enter into the new PERPETUAL COVENANT.
And also, the keeping of the seventh DAY of the week as a DAY of resting was a SIGN that they were in covenant relationship with God by their keeping of the literal seventh DAY of the week.
In other words, that SIGN was a SHADOW pointing to the TRUE PERPETUAL REST in Jesus, the NEW Covenant, given to us by Almighty God.

FACT #5.
The children of Israel were TAUGHT to rest on the Seventh day as a TEST to see if they would keep God's law.
Please read the study Dd-7. WHAT DOES EXODUS 16:29-30 TRULY MEAN?
But for now, please read Deuteronomy 5:1-3 and notice that the first covenant was NOT given to ANYONE before, it was given ONLY to the children of Israel that God DELIVERED from the bondage in the land of Egypt.
In other words, the Old Covenant and the TEN Commandments were given ONLY to the children of Israel AFTER they were delivered from the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 5:1-3.
“And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears THIS DAY, that you may LEARN them, and keep, and do them.
Deuteronomy 5:2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deuteronomy 5:3. The LORD made NOT this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here ALIVE THIS DAY.”
This ONE passage of Scripture ALONE proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath day was NOT given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or ANY of the children of Israel BEFORE THIS DAY at Mount Horeb.
In other words, the resting on the seventh DAY was NOT given to Adam during the creation week as Sabbatarians CLAIM.
And that DAY was AFTER God delivered the children out of bondage in the land of Egypt some 430 years after God called Abraham and made a covenant of PROMISE with him.
Again, that means that God did NOT give the TEN Commandments to Noah or any of the patriarchs all the way back to Adam at creation week.

FACT #6.
The LAW was ADDED because of transgression of the law or disobeying the Will of the God given to the children of Israel in their CONSCIENCE.
And again, the LAW was ONLY given to the CHILDREN of Israel for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations.

FACT #7.
God promised a NEW covenant and the SIGN of keeping this NEW covenant is our faith and rest in Jesus for holiness and righteousness.
We all agree that the New Covenant was established in the shed blood of Jesus.
And at the last supper Jesus instituted the communion in remembrance of his death.
Jesus said that the wine represents the cup of his blood shed for a New Testament.
Please read Hebrews 9:14,15.
“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 9:15. And for THIS CAUSE He is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”
Now read 2 Corinthians 3:6.
“Who also has made us able ministers of the New Testament; NOT of the LETTER, but of the SPIRIT: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.”
FACT #8.
God prophesied that He would put His word in the mouth of Jesus and we are to obey the words of His Son Jesus which are written down in the NEW Testament.
And thus, whosoever does not believe in Jesus and obey His words, which are the words of Yahweh that Almighty God commanded Jesus to speak to us, shall be held accountable or not be held GUILTLESS.
And that means that the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians will be held accountable for DISOBEYING the commandment of Jesus by their obeying the LETTER of the FOURTH commandment and NOT the SPIRIT of the fourth commandment.
Please read Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
“The LORD your God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto Him you shall hearken;
Deuteronomy 18:16. According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
Deuteronomy 18:17. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
Deuteronomy 18:18. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him.
Deuteronomy 18:19. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which he shall speak in My name, I will require it of him.”
So for me, I am going to obey the teachings of Jesus under the New Covenant written in the New Testament.
And Jesus only gave us TWO commandments. Therefore, when you read the word “commandments” in the New Testament, that we must obey then know and understand that the word “commandments” found in the New Testament is speaking of the TWO commandments, that Yahweh commanded Jesus to give to us, as the ONLY requirement to receive eternal life in the world to come.
FACT #9.
Nowhere in the NEW Testament are we commanded to keep the seventh day of the week as the Jews lest we sin.
In fact, we are never taught in the NEW Testament to keep ANY day of the week lest we sin.

FACT #10.
And yes, rest was indeed made FOR ALL men to partake but God will never force any man to be saved.
The seventh 1000-year long day of the Lord was intended for all humans to enjoy Yahweh's REST.
But unfortunately, not all of the human race believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God who suffered and died for the sins of the whole world so that whosoever believes in the Son of God might be saved.

These ten facts are not all there is but they should be far more than enough for those who are TRULY seeking the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
Many seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians have been dogmatically taught that God instituted the keeping of the seventh day of the week at the creation week in Genesis 2:1-3.
They say that God gave all of mankind the commandment to keep the weekly Sabbath day holy, by resting on the seventh day, by His example of resting on the seventh day, a pattern for us to follow.
And they use Genesis 2:3 to try and support what they teach by showing that God blessed or sanctified the seventh day.
Let us read the LITERAL translation again so you can see that God is not talking about the seventh day of the literal week of seven 24 hour days.
But rather, God has set apart a rest for HIMSELF when He will rest in or during the seventh ONE THOUSAND YEAR LONG DAY of the Lord.
It is the yet future 1000-year long day of the Lord is the day of the seventh, which God set apart or sanctified as HIS day of rest.
FACT #1.
God has NOT YET rested a single day and Genesis 2:1-3 is a PROPHECY of God's yet future rest during the Seventh 1000 year long day in the world to come.
Genesis 2:1-3.
“And they ARE BEING FINISHED the heavens and the earth and all the host of them. (God is NOT finished creating. The heavens and the earth ARE YET to be finished when God creates the NEW heavens and the NEW earth after His 1000-year day of rest while His Son Jesus rules FOR Him during that 1000-year reign of Jesus.
Genesis 2:2. And He is FINISHING Elohim in day the SEVENTH work of Him which He did and He is CEASING in day of SEVENTH from all work which He did. (The work He did, is speaking of Yahweh's re-creating the earth and His creation of Adam and Eve.
God did CEASE from that part of STARTING His creation. And He is FINISHING His new creation of new creatures created in Jesus Christ in the seventh 1000-year long reign of Jesus in the world to come.
People will still be saved DURING the Millennial reign of Jesus. And thus, Yahweh is still yet conforming those who believe in His Son Jesus into the IMAGE of His Son.
And the literal translation places God’s ACTUAL rest in the future when God is or will be ceasing in the seventh day yet to come, the 1000-year long seventh day on the world to come while His Son Jesus rules FOR him during His day of rest)
Genesis 2:3. And He is blessing day of SEVENTH and He is MAKING HOLY HIM that in HIM He CEASED from all work of Him which He Elohim created to to do of.”
Now, the making of Jesus holy has been fulfilled but God IS FINISHING making us holy in Jesus.
People are still being saved in this present world. And God is FINISHING saving people in the seventh day and will COMPLETE His work by letting Jesus do the work while Yahweh RESTS during the Seventh 1000-year long day in the world to come.
The first “He” in this verse is referring to Yahweh who is the “He” that fulfilled making Holy “Him” speaking of Jesus.
And Yahweh is making holy all who believe “in HIM” speaking of Jesus where we, as believers in HIM, are yet being made Holy or being conformed into the IMAGE of “HIM” speaking of Jesus.
Plain and simple, Yahweh created Jesus to be a God to the work that He created Jesus to do FOR Yahweh in the world to come.
You see my dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ, it will only be the “he” and “she” speaking of believers in Jesus who have CEASED from WORKS of “himself” or “herself” referring to our OWN works of righteousness in order to TRULY REST in Jesus as our Messiah.
Now let us read Genesis 2:3 again, but this time I will use the name Yahweh, Jesus, and believer rather than the pronouns “He” and “Him”.
“And Yahweh is blessing day of SEVENTH and Yahweh is MAKING HOLY Jesus that in Jesus the believer is made holy and Yahweh CEASED from all work Jesus that Yahweh created Jesus to do in the seventh day”
To say this another way, Yahweh created Jesus to be a God to rule FOR Yahweh while Yahweh RESTS or ceases from the work of ruling the earth which He created Jesus to do in or during the Seventh 1000-year Sabbath of Yahweh.
Now please read Hebrews 4:10,11.
“For he that is ENTERED into HIS REST, also has CEASED from his OWN works, as God did from His. (In other words, God is resting in His WORKS of CREATING righteous people who will NOT rebel against Him like Lucifer and the fallen angels.
For you see, the very REASON that God MADE man AND the Son of MAN is to STILL His ENEMIES, the fallen angels.

Hebrews 4:11. Let us labor, therefore, to enter into THAT REST, (Speaking of the yet future rest that REMAINS on ANOTHER DAY for the people of God) lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
The word “did” is NOT in the original text and by the translators adding the past tense “as God did from his” changes the meaning of the CONTEXT of Hebrews chapter 4 where we are specifically told of a FUTURE REST that remains for us in Hebrews 4:9.
Hebrews 4:9.
“There REMAINS, therefore, a rest to the people of God.”
And if a person does NOT ENTER through to only door that leads to eternal life in the world to come by their CEASING from their OWN works of righteousness to REST in Jesus for their holiness and righteousness, then there remains NO future rest for them in the seventh day, the 1000-year reign of Jesus.
Clearly, Hebrews 4:1-11 does NOT teach us that the rest on the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY REMAINS for Christians to keep.

FACT #2. God gave Adam and Eve only ONE command to keep.
Genesis 2:15-17.
“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Genesis 2:16. And the LORD God commanded the man, SAYING, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat:
Genesis 2:17. BUT of the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, you shall NOT eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.”
Why would they DIE? It is because the KNOWLEDGE of sin is DEATH and without the LAW there is no KNOWLEDGE of sin, according to Romans 7:7-14.
And for that reason DEATH reigned from Adam to Moses. And when the Law of Moses was ADDED it provided a way to KEEP Israel from DEATH, by having a WAY for their sins to be COVERED if they obeyed ALL of the Law of Moses.
But in the Garden of Eden, Yahweh gave the ONE commandment to the man Adam.
No other commandments or KNOWLEDGE of sin was given to mankind until AFTER Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s ONE command, to NOT eat of the tree of KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL.
That is when mankind received a CONSCIENCE to KNOW right from wrong, without being told by any person.
It was then that DEATH entered the world, and NOT a so-called sinful nature was inherited from Adam.

FACT #3. Mankind was given a CONSCIENCE.
Man was given KNOWLEDGE of right and wrong only AFTER Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s ONE command to NOT eat of the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil.
Please read Genesis 3:5-7.
“For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be OPENED, and you shall be as gods, KNOWING good and evil. (WITHOUT ever being given the TEN Commandments. The ONLY law man had from Adam to Moses was his CONSCIENCE)
Genesis 3:6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3:7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they KNEW that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
Now they not only knew that they had done wrong by disobeying God, but they also knew that they were naked “physically” as well.
And because of the sin of Adam and Eve to eat of the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, all of mankind inherited a CONSCIOUSNESS of KNOWING right from wrong.
And thus, DEATH entered into the world and NOT a SINFUL nature.
We did NOT inherit a sinful nature as some claim, and neither did we inherit the guilt of Adam and Eve’s sin.
We all fall short of the glory of God because we all have sinned. Please read the study Ee-17. The FALSE DOCTRINE of ORIGINAL SIN!.
But rather, we inherited the God given CONSCIENCE to KNOW right from wrong.
And thus, by KNOWING right from wrong DEATH entered into the world. And that is why DEATH reigned from Adam to Moses.
The TEN Commandments were NOT given to Adam at creation week, as the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians CLAIM. We can KNOW right from wrong WITHOUT every hearing the TEN Commandments.
Please read Romans 2:11-15.
“For there is no respect of persons with God.
Romans 2:12. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish WITHOUT law: (Speaking of without the Law of Moses and the TEN Commandments) AND as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Romans 2:13. (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:14. For when the Gentiles, which have NOT the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having NOT the law, are a law (by NATURE) unto themselves:
Romans 2:15. Which show the work of the law (Speaking of the MORAL laws of God in the SIX MORAL commandment in the TEN Commandments) written in their hearts, their CONSCIENCE also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another;)”
So then, everyone has a God given CONSCIENCE, but some do not always obey their God given conscience by making excuses in their thoughts, or by listening to the lies of Satan who deceives and tempts them to disobey their CONSCIENCE.
Now, I am not going to go in-depth with all ten FACTS because I have other in-depth studies on them.
But I do want to cover FACT #5 in-depth because of the MISCONCEPTION of FACT #6 using Galatians 3:17-19 which teaches us that the Law of Moses was added BECAUSE of TRANSGRESSIONS.
The MISCONCEPTION made by seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians is that the ONLY way that people can TRANSGRESS, is that there MUST be a COMMANDMENT of God that has already been given, BEFORE the Law of Moses was added for them to TRANSGRESS.
And thus, THEY wrongly concluded that God MUST HAVE given the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
So, in THEIR minds this is the ONLY way to understand Galatians 3:17-19.
But as we have just seen, EVERY human being was given a CONSCIENCE to KNOW right from wrong.
And what was being TRANSGRESSED by the children of Israel, spoken about in Galatians 3:17-19, was the CONSCIENCE of the children of Israel.
They were transgressing their God-given CONSCIENCE.
And also, God’s PLAN of salvation involved choosing a SMALL people, to prove Satan guilty as charged, by ONE man whom God would raise up from among that SMALL people of the Hebrews.
And that is why God gave the TEN Commandments ONLY to the children of Israel, along with the CURSES of the law for those who broke even one point of the Law of Moses.
Now, under the New Covenant both the Jews and the Gentiles can be saved.
And the WAY that we keep the commandments of God under the New Covenant have CHANGED from the OLD WAY of keeping the LETTER of the Law of God.
FACT #5. The children of Israel were TAUGHT HOW to rest on the seventh day of the week.
Now right before the Law of God was WRITTEN in tables of stone and given to Moses to give to the CHILDREN of Israel, God tested the children of Israel to SEE if they would obey His commandments.
In other words, God TAUGHT the children of Israel for the very first time HOW to REST on the seventh day of the week, which he called the SABBATH, by giving them one commandment at a time to see if they would obey all of His commandments.
Please read Galatians 3:19.
“Wherefore, then serve the law? It was ADDED because of transgressions, TILL the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.”
The promise was made to Abraham to bless his SEED, which is speaking of Jesus, and ALL who BELIEVE and obey the teachings of Jesus.
The written Law of Moses was only temporary, and it was only ADDED to be KEPT by ONLY the children of Israel.
The first covenant was never meant to save them. And thus, the law was added only UNTIL the Messiah came and God established a NEW COVENANT, in the shed blood of the Son of man, Jesus.
In other words, Jesus is the END of the law that was ADDED for righteousness.
And that is WHY Paul said to the Judaizing Jewish Hebrew Christians, why then do you SERVE the LAW?
But the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians try to explain away the teachings of the Apostle Paul, and thus, they INTERPRET Galatians 3:19 as meaning that God MUST HAVE given the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
They REASON in their minds, HOW ELSE could the children of Israel have TRANSGRESSED without there already have been given the TEN Commandments.
And then they try to prove that it was only the Law of Moses that was ADDED, because then children of Israel transgressed the TEN Commandments that God had supposedly already given to Adam at creation week.
But what does the Bible ITSELF teach us?
There are basically FIVE main MISCONCEPTIONS or wrong teachings that have been drilled into the minds of the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians over and over again and again, until that is all they can see.
These five misconceptions or these five FALSE teachings are:
#1. The fourth commandment of keeping the weekly Sabbath day of rest was given to ALL of mankind and NOT just to Israel.
#2. The fourth commandment to keep the weekly Sabbath day of rest was given to ALL of mankind for ALL ETERNITY.
#3. The TEN commandments were given to Israel AND to us, the church, to keep for ALL ETERNITY.
And, therefore, the FOURTH commandment is given for us, as Christians, to keep for ALL ETERNITY.
#4. Jesus kept the weekly Sabbath day of rest his whole life and he is our EXAMPLE to follow.
Therefore, we must keep the weekly Sabbath rest all of our life as well if we want to receive eternal life in the world to come.
#5. The Roman Catholic church CHANGED the SEVENTH day Sabbath day of rest to Sunday, the FIRST day of the week, which is the PAGAN day of SUN worship.
The following quote was given to me by a dear brother in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Quoting: A common but mistaken teaching is that the first-century apostles and Christians changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday in honor of Christ’s resurrection.
But this change did not originate with the apostles and is not taught by the New Testament.
The Civil decree of Sunday Sabbath came from Rome on March 7, 321 ad.
Later, however, Sunday worship did spread to many churches.
Around A.D. 150 Justin Martyr wrote: “On the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together in one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read. … Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Savior on the same day rose from the dead”
(Justin Martyr, First Apology, 67; ANF 1:186).
So then, are these basic five teachings what God Himself teaches or are they what MAN teaches?
What does the Bible ITSELF teach us?
Let us take a look to see what the Bible ITSELF teaches us.
Now, remember that ALL Sabbath-keeping Christians dogmatically demand that, “The keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath day was given to ALL of mankind to keep, and that it was NOT just given to the children of Israel ONLY, as so-called pagan Sunday worshiping Christians teach.”
In other words, the Sabbath-keeping Christians are being warned to stay away from all NON Sabbath-keeping Christians, because we teach that the weekly Sabbath was given ONLY to the children of Israel, just like the Bible ITSELF teaches us in SIMPLICITY with no interpretation needed.
So then, let us see if Sabbath-keeping Christians are correct in their dogmatic claim that the Sabbath day was given to ALL of mankind to keep, or let us see if they are MAKING a LIE?
Please read Deuteronomy 5:1-3 which we will read one verse at a time so you can see with our own eyes what the Bible ITSELF teaches in SIMPLICITY with no interpretation needed.
Deuteronomy 5:1.
“And Moses called all ISRAEL, (WHO did Moses CALL? Just read the words written. Moses called all of ISRAEL and NOT that Moses called ALL of MANKIND. So then, the word of TRUTH plainly states that Moses called all of ISRAEL) and said unto THEM, Hear, O ISRAEL, the statutes and judgments which I speak in YOUR ears THIS day, that you may LEARN them, and keep, and do them.”
Here we clearly see that there was a time when NONE of Israel were ever commanded, instructed, taught or even suggested to keep the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week.
We see from this passage of scripture that the keeping of the Sabbath day was given only to the children of ISRAEL, upon a certain day in time at a certain place called mount Horeb or Mount Sinai.
Also, we know and understand from the New Testament that the Law of God was ADDED because of transgression. And we know that the law was ADDED only for a TIME until the PROMISE of the SEED came.
We will go deeper in God's word further on in this study showing you those Scriptures.
But for now, I just want to point out some very basic FACTS plainly stated in God's word of TRUTH, that do NOT need to be INTERPRETED to know and understand what they mean.
In other words, the word of TRUTH states as a FACT with no interpretation needed that God gave the Sabbath day to the CHILDREN of ISRAEL for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations.
And the first covenant was given as a SIGN, that THEY were in COVENANT relationship which God made with THEM ONLY for the very FIRST time.
In Deuteronomy 5:2,3 you will clearly see that God had NOT made this covenant with any of the FATHERS of the children of Israel before this time on Mount Horeb.
To say this another way, I want you to see for yourself directly from God's word of TRUTH that God made NOT THIS covenant with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob or ANY of mankind BEFORE this time, when God made THIS covenant with the children of ISRAEL for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations.
Deuteronomy 5:2,3.
“The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deuteronomy 5:3. The LORD made NOT THIS COVENANT with our fathers, BUT with us, even us, who are all of us here ALIVE THIS day.”
How can it get any clearer than this dear children of God? God is specifically stating as a FACT with absolutely no interpretation needed for anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear that THIS COVENANT, of observing the weekly Sabbath DAY, was given as a SIGN of keeping THIS COVENANT was made between God and the children of ISRAEL.
And it was given ONLY to the children of Israel who were ALIVE and HEARD the voice of God in Mount Sinai, or Mount Horeb, from out of the midst of fire.
And that means that this covenant of the TEN Commandments that contain the FOURTH commandment of the keeping of the seventh day of the week, was NOT made with the FATHERS of Israel whom we know to be Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the children of Israel who died, all died before the children of Israel were delivered from bondage in the land of Egypt.
So then, this one verse alone should prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that God did NOT command, instruct, teach, or even suggest to Adam or any other human being to REST on the SEVENTH day of the week, BEFORE this TIME that God made this COVENANT with the children of ISRAEL ALONE in the TIME of MOSES after God delivered them from bondage in the land of Egypt.
Almost all seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use any verse they can find, to try and prove that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
And they completely IGNORE Deuteronomy 5:1-3 which proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are TWISTING the Scriptures, to force them to mean what they NEED them to mean, lest their whole church doctrine false apart.
And one of the verses of Scripture that they use to try and prove that God MUST have given the TEN Commandments to Adam is Exodus 16:28-30.
Please read Exodus 16:28-30.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse you to keep my commandments and my laws?
Exodus 16:29. See, for that the LORD has given you the Sabbath, therefore, He gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide you every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
Exodus 16:30. So the people rested on the seventh day.”
Now, they argue that Exodus chapter 16 comes BEFORE Exodus chapter 20, which is WHEN God gave the TEN Commandments to the children of Israel.
Then they ask the question, how is it possible for the children of Israel to REFUSE to KEEP God’s COMMANDMENTS and God’s LAWS, if so be that God had not yet ALREADY given them the TEN Commandments to Adam at creation week.
They argue that the TEN Commandment MUST HAVE BEEN handed down by word of mouth from Adam to the time of Moses.
And that is how THEY INTERPRET Exodus 16:28-30 OUT of its CONTEXT.
Let us now read the whole chapter of Exodus 16:1-36 keeping verses 28-30 left in their CONTEXT to learn the true sound Biblical meaning of HOW they refused to keep the commandments and laws of God.
Now I am going to take a lot of time on this one argument given by Sabbath-keeping churches, because it is a stumbling block to many Sabbath-keeping Christians who are, indeed, truly seeking the truth from the NEW Testament.
But yet, they keep coming back to this chapter in Exodus 16 where they have been dogmatically taught, for so long, that it means God gave the keeping of the seventh day Sabbath and the rest of the TEN Commandments, BEFORE the LAW of Moses was ADDED.
For you see, in their minds the TEN Commandments are NOT the Law of Moses. So to THEM, the TEN Commandments were given to Adam at creation week, and ONLY the Law of Moses was ADDED, because the children of Israel transgressed the TEN Commandments that was supposedly handed down to them by word of mouth generation after generation from the tome of Adam.
Now, as you read these verses, I want you to see the ORDER in which things happen.
I will give comments among these verses, as well as in between these verses, along the way to explain what they mean when they are correctly interpreted in their CONTEXT.
We will read the whole chapter of Exodus 16:1-36, but we will take it slowly, reading one or two verses of Scripture at a time.
Exodus 16:1.
“And they (The children of Israel being led by Moses and Aaron) took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing OUT of the land of Egypt.”
The children of Israel had just been RESCUED, or saved from the BONDAGE of Egypt, which is a type or figure of God saving all of mankind from the BONDAGE of sin.
Egypt is often used as a type for the world. The wilderness is a figure or type of us, as Christians, being tempted by the devil in this present world awaiting our SEVENTH 1000 year day of REST, which begins at the second coming of Jesus.
Exodus 16:2,3.
“And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
Exodus 16:3. And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
In truth, they were DOUBTING that it was God, who brought them out of the bondage of Egypt, for why would God deliver us just to die of hunger.
But in a moment, we will see that God will PROVE to the children of Israel that He ALONE brought them out of bondage.
You see, they could have gone straight to the promised land and they would not have had to wander in the wilderness for forty years, but that is for another study.
Exodus 16:4.
“Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I WILL rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate EVERY day, (And NOT just six days a week, but rather, in the beginning, Yahweh instructed the children of Israel to gather the bread from heaven EVERY single day of the week) THAT (Or so that) I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.”
In other words, God has not yet told Moses the rate of how much they are to gather or how many days.
And, at this point in time, God said, EVERY day they shall gather the bread that I rain down at a certain rate EVERY day, as in, SEVEN days a week until I give them another commandment to see if they will obey all my commandments on how I want them to gather the Manna.
The word “PROVE” here has two meanings.
The first meaning is given to us in the IMMEDIATE context of whether the children of Israel would walk in or KEEP God's LAW that He was about to give to them for the FIRST time.
And the second meaning that is given to us in the BROADER context, which is that God is going to PROVE to them that He alone is God and that it was He alone, who delivered them from the bondage of Egypt.
So then, in the next verse we see HOW God is going to PROVE to the children of Israel that He alone brought them out of bondage.
Exodus 16:5.
“AND it SHALL come to PASS, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather DAILY.”
So then, God is teaching them to gather bread EVERY day for the present time at a certain rate DAILY.
And THEN after they obeyed that step, then God makes a change in how it will be, yet in the future weeks ahead from this time, as to the rate they will be gathering bread in the near future.
In other words, God is merely instructing them one step at a time on how to gather the bread.
The main point that I want you to see right now is, that this has never happened before.
And thus, God is TEACHING them in the PRESENT tense, HOW they are going to gather the bread.
I mean, if so be, that they ALREADY were in the HABIT of NOT working on the SEVENTH day, then God would NOT have needed to give them His INSTRUCTIONS on gathering TWICE as much bread on the SIXTH day, so that they could REST on the SEVENTH day.
For you see, if they were already keeping the weekly Sabbath day BEFORE Exodus chapter 16, then they would have already known to rest on the seventh day.
They would have been like Peter in Acts chapter 9 and said NOT so Lord for we have never worked on the seventh day and we refuse to gather bread on the seventh day, Lord.
Stay with me dear children of God and you will see this TRUTH for yourself directly from God’s word,
Exodus 16:6-8.
“And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, THEN you shall KNOW that the LORD has brought you out from the land of Egypt:
Exodus 16:7. AND in the morning, THEN you shall SEE the glory of the LORD; for that He hears your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that you murmur against us?
Exodus 16:8. And Moses said, This SHALL be, (Or this is HOW it is going to be. God has told me what He is going to do, which I already told you, and THIS is what SHALL be His next commandment on how He wants you to gather His bread from heaven) when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.”
In other words, the reason WHY God is going to do what He said He will do, is to PROVE to you children of Israel that He has brought you out of Egypt, and it was NOT us who delivered you ourselves.
So quit complaining to me and Aaron. You can see how God keeps adding things one step at a time, to EVENTUALLY teach the children of Israel HOW to rest on the seventh day for the very FIRST time.
Exodus 16:9-12.
“And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for He has heard your murmurings.
Exodus 16:10. And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.
Exodus 16:11. And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
Exodus 16:12. I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall KNOW that I am the LORD your God.”
So then, WHEN the children would SEE the quails in the evening and the bread from heaven in the morning, THEN they would KNOW that it was the LORD who delivered them from bondage because God told them BEFORE it happened, what would happen.
The children of Israel are LEARNING. They are learning to rest on the seventh day and they are learning that what God says He WILL bring it to pass.
And when Jesus came he said that we must eat his flesh and that he is the TRUE bread from heaven.
Exodus 16:13-15.
“And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
Exodus 16:14. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.
Exodus 16:15. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. (Because this has never happened BEFORE this time.
They never saw bread from heaven before and they never had rested on the seventh day before. They are still LEARNING) And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.”
Again, God told them this would happen before it happened to remind them that this was the LORD'S doing which HE has given you to eat.
Then Moses gives them the INSTRUCTIONS that God gave to him to tell the children of ISRAEL exactly HOW they are to gather the bread.
Exodus 16:16-20.
“THIS (Which I am about to tell you) is the thing which the LORD has commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take you every man for them which are in his tents. (Now we know the RATE in which they were being TAUGHT to gather EVERY DAY of the week seven days a week at a certain rate until God’s next commandment)
Exodus 16:17. And the children of Israel DID so, (Meaning they followed God’s commandment to gather EVERY DAY of the week, seven days a week, a certain rate DAILY) and gathered, some more, some less.
Exodus 16:18. And when they did mete it with an omer, (Or when some of them OBEYED God’s commandment on HOW to gather the bread according to each family member’s eating habit) he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
Exodus 16:19. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. (In other words, clean your plate and eat every bite, leaving nothing left over for the next day to eat later. Now some obeyed, and some did NOT obey)
Exodus 16:20. Notwithstanding they hearkened NOT unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
Now, how many days this took before they disobeyed God's ONE commandment to NOT leave any over we are not specifically told.
But the context does make it pretty clear that this was the ONLY commandment that God gave thus far, as He was TEACHING them HOW to work six days and REST on the SEVENTH day, which God had NOT YET taught them.
And all that God has taught them thus far is NOT to leave any over to the next day.
You will see WHY God commanded them to OBEY this ONE commandment to NOT keep any over until the next day in a moment.
God wants them to see that if they DISOBEYED even the one thing that they were being TAUGHT, that an undesirable consequence would occur.
In this case, the bread would STINK and their house would STINK because they DISOBEYED God to do exactly as he was teaching them.
Exodus 16:21.
“And they gathered it EVERY morning, (So EVERY morning tells us that it was MORE than just one day that they gathered bread DAILY.
And it ALSO teaches that they started OBEYING God, to gather only that certain rate DAILY EVERY DAY) every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted,”
Now they saw that when they OBEYED God, the leftover bread out in the field they did NOT gather, just simply melted and did NOT SINK.
So now they are getting a hold of the idea that it is best to OBEY God, and do things HIS way.
And God’s way for Christians is to obey the NEW COVENANT, written in the NEW Testament.
Exodus 16:22.
“And it came to PASS, (Meaning that AFTER they had BECOME obedient to God after LEARNING a CONSEQUENCE for NOT obeying God it was now time for God to ADD His second step) that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and TOLD Moses.”
Now here we see AFTER they disobeyed what God specifically told them NOT to do, which was to KEEP some for the next day, not knowing WHY until after they disobeyed God and found that the bread ruined and grew worms and STUNK, if it was not ALL eaten the same in the morning before the sun got hot.
AFTER they learned their FIRST lesson God said, it SHALL come to PASS that on the SIXTH day they SHALL gather twice as much, as ANOTHER TEST.
It would not be a test if they were ALREADY doing this. PLUS it is much MORE a test now knowing that the bread is going to ruin and STICK to make their whole house STINK.
So then, it comes to PASS that when the SIXTH day comes where they were told to gather TWICE as much and they had been gathering EVERYDAY on a DAILY basis the previous days, and they came and TOLD Moses that they had gathered the bread as they were told.
To me this is like the children of Israel came to Moses and said NOW WHAT do we do?
We have OBEYED God to do what he said, BUT we cannot eat this much food in just one day and it will not keep until tomorrow to eat for it will ruin and STINK up our whole house, as it did before.
And then they waited to hear what Moses was going to tell them next.
Exodus 16:23.
“And he said unto them, THIS is THAT which the LORD has said, Tomorrow is the REST of the holy Sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which you will bake to day, and seethe that you will seethe; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.”
Now, if so be that the children of Israel had always rested on the seventh day, because it was handed down to them from Adam, then they would not have needed to be TOLD by Yahweh that TOMORROW is the REST of the holy Sabbath of Yahweh.
For you see, they would have already known to rest on the seventh day, if so be that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath was given to Adam at creation week.
So then, this is the VERY FIRST time that the children of Israel were ever INSTRUCTED, or taught about the REST of the seventh day of the week.
And it was the first time they heard the seventh day to be called holy Sabbath unto the Lord. God was just now TEACHING them, for the very FIRST TIME, how to work six days and then HOW to REST on the SEVENTH day, by NOT going out of their home at all on the Sabbath day.
They were probably thinking to themselves that they will go ahead and obey the Lord this time.
But in their minds they were thinking it would be a waste of their time, because this extra bread they gathered today is just going to grow worms and not keep until morning to eat, but rather it will STINK up our whole house again.
And some did not even bother to obey God to gather twice as much, thinking that they would keep on gathering every day as they had been doing, because they did NOT want to have their house STINK again.
So they went out on the seventh day to gather bread like before, but this time there was no bread to gather.
Now again, just mere common sense should teach you that if so be that all of mankind was already keeping the Sabbath day since Adam, then they would have known already to not work on the seventh day.
But some thought that since they gathered bread on the seventh day before, then it would be there just like it had before every single day of the week, seven days a week.
But God was TEACHING them for the FIRST TIME to work six days only, and how to rest on the seventh day.
And if they did NOT obey, then they would suffer the CONSEQUENCE of going HUNGRY for that day.
But if they did obey then it would not stink as it did before.
Exodus 16:24,25.
“And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did NOT STINK, neither was there any worm therein.
Exodus 16:25. And Moses said, Eat that to day; FOR (Or BECAUSE) TODAY is a Sabbath unto the LORD: to day you shall not find it in the field.”
Now again, if so be, that the children of Israel had ALREADY been keeping the SABBATH day since they were born, then they would have already known what day it was and WHY they were INSTRUCTED by God to gather twice as much food on the SIXTH day.
And thus, they would NOT have had any need to be TAUGHT all of this.
Keep reading and you will see that God is teaching them through Moses as WHAT to do and WHY God is telling them to do it for the very FIRST time, one step at a time which may have taken two or three months.
We know for sure that some went out on the seventh day EXPECTING there to be bread and there was no bread to be found. So they went hungry that day.
Exodus 16:26.
“Six days you shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.”
Now, God for the first time, purposely did NOT rain down from heaven ANY bread on the SEVENTH day from this time forward, so that the children of Israel would learn NOT to work on the SEVENTH day until it became a habit or second nature to them.
This is the FIRST time in the Bible that the SEVENTH day is called the Sabbath unto the Lord. God was PROVING Israel to see whether or not they would walk in his LAW.
So, at first. God gave them ONE commandment, which was NOT to keep ANY over unto the next morning. And they disobeyed that ONE commandment.
THEN God commands them to gather TWICE as much on the SIXTH day and no doubt they were probably wondering WHY because now they knew that if they did not eat it ALL on the SAME morning that it would ruin and stink and have worms.
And some of them listened to their own reasoning that it would just ruin, and they went ahead and disobeyed God anyway thinking that they would just go out and gather some more the next day, which they have done ever since the bread started appearing.
Otherwise, if they KNEW that there was not going to be any bread raining down from heaven on the SEVENTH day, they probably would have complained to Moses saying WHAT are we going to eat tomorrow seeing that what we are laying up for tomorrow will RUIN and not be fit to eat?
But then tomorrow came and it did NOT ruin as it did BEFORE and Moses said to them to EAT, and then Moses explained WHY God showed or TAUGHT them all of this.
Anyone with eyes to see can clearly see that this was the very FIRST time God TAUGHT or INSTRUCTED anyone to keep the seventh day of rest, and that for the first time God ever NAMED this seventh day of rest the SABBATH day.
Exodus 16:27.
“And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for TO GATHER, and they found none.”
Now again if so be that the children of Israel were ALREADY KEEPING the Sabbath day because it was passed down to them, to keep all the way from Adam in the garden of Eden, then they would NOT have gone out to WORK on the SEVENTH day to gather bread to eat.
They would have ALREADY understood WHY they needed to gather TWICE as much on the SIXTH day.
NONE of this would have been needed to be shown and taught to them if so be that they have always kept the SEVENTH day of REST.
The point is some of the children of Israel did NOT believe God that if they gathered TWO days supply of food that it would KEEP and be fit to eat the next day, so they DISOBEYED God by NOT gathering TWO days supply on the SIXTH day, as they were being TAUGHT to do.
Thus, they went out as before to gather their DAILY supply of food to eat, but there was no food to be found.
It is assumed that the disobedient went hungry that day, to learn to OBEY God.
The Sabbath was made for MAN and NOT man made for the Sabbath.
God is teaching the children of Israel OBEDIENCE, so that they will OBEY His words WHEN in the future He will speak to them through his SON Jesus.
The LAW was a SCHOOLMASTER TEACHING the children of ISRAEL about Jesus.
Some of them learned their lesson right away and some did not. And when Jesus came the majority of the Jews were NOT HEARING the words of the Son of MAN, Jesus.
And then God turned to the GENTILE to provoke His people to jealousy.
Exodus 16:28,29.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long REFUSE YOU to keep My commandments and My laws? (Remember that commandments also carry the meaning of TEACHINGS.
And thus, this does NOT mean the TEN Commandments.
But rather, it means the commandment of Yahweh TEACHING the children of Israel HOW to rest on the seventh day for the very first time)
Exodus 16:29. See, for (Or UNDERSTAND WHY) that the LORD has given you the Sabbath, THEREFORE (Or for this very REASON) He gives you on the sixth day the bread of TWO days; (Not so that it would ruin, and NOT so that you would disobey me by not gathering twice as much on the sixth day and then go out to gather on the seventh day, but so you could REST on the SEVENTH day. So, therefore) abide you every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”
God is TEACHING the children of Israel for the FIRST time, to REST on the SEVENTH day which is pointing to their FUTURE REST in JESUS.
And once they FIND their rest in Jesus in the future they are to ABIDE or REMAIN in that place of REST.
Then further on down in this passage of Scripture, God will TEACH them WHY he has commanded them to REST on the SEVENTH day.
Now here we see that God is teaching His people Israel to STAY in their OWN HOMES on the SEVENTH day, commanding them that no man shall GO OUT of his OWN place of REST on the Sabbath day.
But yet no Sabbath keeping church, I am aware of, teaches their members to STAY in their OWN HOMES on the Sabbath day. Their OWN place of REST represents that is the NEW covenant, where EACH individual person is responsible for BELIEVING in Jesus for THEMSELVES, and no longer does God judge by NATIONS.
And the TWO days of bread represents two 1000-year long days of the teaching of the gospel to the Jews, was never meant to go to waste.
God will bring to remembrance to His REMNANT of Israel the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ at the coming of Jesus.
That is why the TRIBES will MOURN. They will be provoked to jealousy, that they were thrust out of the kingdom and not allowed to enter into the City of God.
They will be left behind with the murderers and whore mongers in outer darkness to suffer the wrath of God.
But God will remember mercy and lift His wrath, lest He does not leave a remnant of His people Israel to deliver as He promised in Isaiah 11:11.
Exodus 16:30-36.
“So the people rested on the seventh day. (Or the children of Israel rested on the seventh day for the very FIRST time.
In other words, they were the FIRST people to EVER rest of the seventh day of the week. And the actual commandment was not given officially until Mount Horeb along with the TEN Commandments, and the WHOLE Law of God written in the book of the Law of Moses also called the Law of God)
Exodus 16:31. And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: (In the NEW Testament Jesus calls HIMSELF the BREAD, which came down from heaven where bread in the New Testament is symbolic for TEACHING) and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
Exodus 16:32. And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commands, Fill an omer of it to be kept for YOUR generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Exodus 16:33. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for YOUR generations.
Exodus 16:34. As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
Exodus 16:35. And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan. (Now if you truly understand the word of God you will KNOW that the ONLY Sabbath that will be KEPT during the SEVENTH 1000-year day of REST will be the feast of Tabernacles.
For you see. all the other six feast days will have been fulfilled at the second coming of Jesus, EXCEPT for the feast of tabernacles, which is fulfilled by Almighty God HIMSELF coming down from heaven, AFTER His SEVENTH day of REST, during the 1000-year reign of His SON Jesus.
In other words, the keeping of the feast of Tabernacles during the 1000 year reign of Jesus is likened to an ALTAR call at church.
The call is made for people to come to the city of Jerusalem to be taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to be SAVED.
And those who come and accept God's so great a salvation so God can tabernacle in them will have rain on their crops.
And the ones who refuse to answer the ALTAR call of Jesus will have no rain on their crop that year.
Refuse the offer of salvation twice and they will suffer the wrath of God at the end of the 1000-year reign of Jesus. There will be no keeping of the LETTER of the law of the feast of Tabernacles during the 1000-year reign of Jesus)
Exodus 16:36. Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.”
FACT #6.
The LAW was ADDED because of transgression of the law or the Will of the God-given CONSCIENCE.
And the law was ONLY given to the CHILDREN of Israel for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations.
So then, did God NOT care about the rest of the world? No! The KEY of God’s plan of salvation is to have a sinless MAN be slain on a cross by Satan.
And had Satan KNOWN God’s plan of salvation, that He kept secret from His enemy Satan, then Satan would have never crucified the Lord of glory.
And thus, Galatians 3:16-19 is all about Jesus being the SEED of Abraham who would be slain on a cross for the sins of the WHOLE world and NOT just for Israel ONLY.
Galatians 3:16-19.
“Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He said not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to your seed, which is Christ.
Exodus 16:17. And this I say, that the covenant, (Speaking of the covenant of PROMISE given to Abraham that foreshadowed the New Covenant which would be a PERPETUAL COVENANT) that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years AFTER, cannot disannul, that it should make the PROMISE of none effect.
Exodus 16:18. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Exodus 16:19. WHEREFORE, (Or for this very reason that the inheritance of eternal life in the world to come is NOT by the keeping of the LAW) then WHEREFORE serve the law? It was added because of transgressions, TILL the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.”
The focus of Paul’s teaching in this passage of Scripture is since the LAW does not save you the WHY are you seventh day of the week LAW keepers serving the LAW because it was ADDED only until Jesus came and died on the cross to REPLACE the Old Covenant with God’s New and BETTER Covenant.
