Prerequisite Requirements
To qualify for this class you must have earned a passing grade in all four quarters of your Secondary 1, 2, & 3 math classes with a C grade or above. You do not need an ACT math score to take this class. Math 1010 is not a prerequisite for Math 1030. If your college degree only requires Math 1030, you can go directly into Math 1030 without doing Math 1010 first.
Expectations
This is a college class, so it does move rather quickly, but students who stay caught up usually do very well.
Course Description
Math 1010 Concurrent Enrollment semester class is offered for students who want to take Math 1050, but either don’t have a high enough ACT score to go directly into Math 1050 or they just want to review prior to taking Math 1050. We cover many of the topics in this class that you have already learned in your secondary math classes in high school – plus a few new topics here and there.
Concurrent Enrollment
This class gives you 4 college credit hours and fulfills math requirements for about 11 majors at UVU (see list of majors below). It will also help prepare you for Math 1050.
After this Class
After taking Math 1010, first semester, UVU will then allow students to take Math 1050 second semester if they have earned at least a C grade in Math 1010. However, from past experience, we have found that in order to really do well and pass Math 1050, students should have earned at least a B grade in Math 1010.
