AP Testing Guide

SHS AP Stats Intro Video.mp4

Prerequisite Requirements

Completion of math Secondary 1, 2, and 3 with B grades or higher OR completion of math Secondary 1 Honors, 2 Honors, and 3 Honors with C grades or higher. Most students take AP Statistics after or in lieu of AP Calculus, but it can be taken concurrently if you have the time.

Expectations

Most students will find that assignments take 1-2 hours per class period - sometimes more, sometimes less. Students are required to do test rewrites on missed questions, which provides the opportunity to not only learn the concepts correctly, but also improve their grades. We finish the new topics in 3rd term, which allows us to spend a lot of time studying and reviewing for the end of year exam, so students are well prepared.

Course Description

AP Stats focuses on how to collect, summarize and interpret data in order to visualize patterns and trends and make predictions. It requires a slightly different mind-set than most math classes because we focus more on communicating our findings than we do on solving problems. We focus on the use of technology in problem-solving, as well as running simulations in order to better understand the concepts.

If there are any questions or issues, please email an instructor of this course.
