Your Lexia has reset because it is a new week. Remember if you meet your goal for the week, then you earn $5 in classroom money for Market Day at the end of the year. Work on your Lexia goal (spread out your units to ensure you finish your prescribed units by the end of the week--this should not take more than 15 minutes a day). If you have N/A as your prescribed units this is because you are above grade level. Your goal should still be to get at least 4 units done a week.
Choose a nonfiction book. It can be a physical book you have access to that is "just right" for you or you can find a nonfiction topic on world book online, or an e-book. As you read look for the main idea of different sections. The main idea usually is found in the headings and in the introduction sentence of each paragraph. After you find a main idea, read the rest of the paragraph or section and find at least 3 juicy details that support it. For example if I am reading about Pandas and one paragraph talks about what they eat then I write that as my main idea. Then I write 3 facts about what they eat. You may use "Tarzan Talk". Share your notes with me in the google form called Main Idea and Details Summary. The form is to the right of this list.
Read for 20 minutes (Reading choices: a book that is "just right" for you, https://www.worldbookonline.com/kids/home, e-book, etc.).--You can include the time it took you to read the book for your notes in item 2 on your to-do list.
We are starting Measurement this week. I will email a picture of a ruler that you can print off and use if you don't have a ruler. Watch the 2 measurement videos to the right of this list. Do the Introductory measurement activity below.

Phonics Pattern: The 2 sounds that "oo" makes. Watch the mini lesson on this phonics pattern. Find words in books that have a "oo" pattern. Sort them into 2 columns based on the sound they make. Here are some words to get you started: book, spoon, wood, tool, cook, shook, moon, noodle and pool.
Read for 20 minutes (Reading choices: a book that is "just right" for you, https://www.worldbookonline.com/kids/home, e-book, etc.).
Watch the measurement song. Here are some good pages in the skinny math book to practice measuring with a ruler. Page 183 says to use color tiles, but a color tile is exactly 1 inch so they can just use an inch ruler. The problem solving question at the bottom says look around the classroom, but you can look around your house. Page 185 and 189 are also great.

Phonics Pattern: The 2 sounds that "oo" makes. Choose a worksheet from the attached file in your email you get this morning. I like the 2nd worksheet the best.
Read for 20 minutes (Reading choices: a book that is "just right" for you, https://www.worldbookonline.com/kids/home, e-book, etc.).
Watch the video about other measuring tools. If you don't have access to these tools to practice measuring things it is OK. Gather up any tools you do have and practice measuring things around the house. Answer the questions in the google form about which tool you would use to measure the items in each question. Remember what you learn from the video to help you. If something is bigger than your measuring tool what do you do? The video and google form are to the right of this list

Go to https://nearpod.com/ and join a lesson by entering this code: PONFK

Start your nonfiction paragraph rough draft on your endangered animal research. To the right is a video about where to type this paragraph and how to do it. I will email all your research to your parents so you can use that to help you turn it into a paragraph. I will also email the rubrics so you will know how you will be graded. Don't write about why it is endangered or how you would solve the problem yet. That will be the second paragraph and you will get more instructions on that later.
Read for 20 minutes (Reading choices: a book that is "just right" for you, https://www.worldbookonline.com/kids/home, e-book, etc.).
Practice estimating, measuring with different tools and choosing the best tool by doing these skinny math book pages: p. 187, 193, 195 and 197 If you don't have your skinny math book text me and I can send you a picture of the activity and you can do it on scratch paper. If you don't have the tool you would choose to use then still choose the best tool but instead of actually measuring you can estimate. Remember to use your body to help you mark the measuring tool like if you are choosing yards or meters it would be about your arm span, a foot would be about your elbow to fingertips, an inch would be about one knuckle and a centimeter would be about the width of your pinky finger. I included the measurement rubric below so you can see how your second grader is doing. Look at ways you can challenge your second grader for a 4 if they are ready. Measure the length of your foot and width of your foot in INCHES and enter it in the form to the right of this list. The data will be used in a future math lesson.
Do your second Art activity if you haven't yet.
Today for Spirit Week it is Spirit Day so wear Deerfield colors and/or swag. Faculty Parade at noon
