To us, diversity is acknowledgement, promotion, and celebration of our differences and similarities. All racial identities, ethnicities, sexes, nationalities, gender identities and expressions, physical and mental abilities, sexual orientations, ages, spiritualities (or lack thereof), points of view, and socioeconomic statuses can fit in with us.

Through our stance on diversity, we unite individuals from around the world and serve communities affected by disasters with purpose. Response, recovery, resilience and renewal are why we exist—yet, it’s respect for humanity that drives us forward every day.

Everyone is welcome.

Watch the Ethical Storytelling video above, hosted by our Creative Manager, Hannah Farajpanahi.

Ethical storytelling recognizes not only the importance of sharing stories of impact, but also the importance of how these stories are shared, what information is provided and how sharing will affect the people/communities involved. We recognize that a person is more than the events that have happened to them and, as such, stories from program must include more than a person’s experience with natural disasters.

We are all storytellers, and we are in a unique position to amplify the voices of people in the communities we serve. With this position, we have the responsibility to share their stories truthfully, respectfully and ethically.
