We're excited to have you joining us on our program in Florida!
Volunteers are responsible for getting to and from the program on their own. Please be sure to factor in costs when planning your journey. You will find more information about how to travel to the program by reading the information on this page.
For security reasons, we do not disclose the exact location of our base on this website. However, once you’ve applied and have been accepted, you’ll receive a detailed step-by-step guide on everything you need to know to plan your journey. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
While planning your journey please make sure you familiarize yourself with visa and entry requirements. As visa regulations vary depending on nationality, and are subject to frequent change, All Hands and Hearts can not offer guidance. We strongly recommend speaking with your local embassy or looking at your government's website for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Our Hurricane Ian Relief program is currently based in Fort Myers.
We recommend flying into Southwest Florida International Airport, located approximately 17 miles (20 minutes drive) from our base.
Alternatively, Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) is a 50 minute drive from base, and Tampa International Airport, Miami International Airport, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are all slightly over 2 hours away from base.
Please take a Uber, Lyft, Greyhound, or local bus to get from the airport to our base.
After your volunteer application has been accepted, we will provide you with the Directions to Base document, which includes the address and detailed directions to find the base.
Please note that we welcome new arrivals from Monday to Thursday between 7:30 am and 8:00 pm. Preferably no arrivals on a Friday. We also recommend that you have contingency funds to cover any unexpected expenses.
You’re welcome to drive your vehicle to our program as long as it can fit in one parking spot. The park offers us the use of one of its secure parking lots in a satellite lot about 5 minutes from the base. Shuttles to this lot are regularly offered during non-working hours by staff and volunteers. For more information regarding the location and details, please speak with the Volunteer Relations Coordinator.
Our Volunteer Coordination Manager will be processing your application, and if you have any questions, please feel free to email hurricaneianrelief@allhandsandhearts.org
We highly recommend installing WhatsApp as this is the most reliable source of communication at All Hands and Hearts and is the platform on which the Florida program has an active volunteer chat group.
If you want to get more tips, connect with other incoming and former volunteers through our Alumni Network.
