May 24 - May 30
Cougar Nation,
We are off to a great start with Final Exams starting last week. Each day is a normal school day from 8am - 3:05pm again this week. Students are expected to stay all day. Also, students can still come for extra help on Wednesday.
With the announcement from Governor Cooper last week, we will be at 100% capacity for our 2020-2021 ACHS Graduation. We excited to celebrate this tremendous event with our students and families. We will hold our graduation ceremony in the stadium with a 6:30 start time. We will also have a parade after the ceremony for our graduates, like we did last year. The parade will start 20 minutes after the graduation ceremony and we will have a signal that the parade is starting.
Graduation in the stadium AND the parade are weather dependent. If there is inclement weather, we will hold the graduation ceremony in the Varsity gym. Graduates will be given 4 tickets for the Varsity Gym and 3 tickets for the Auditorium in the event of inclement weather.
We are working on setting up a livestream of graduation. We will livestream the ceremony whether it is inside the Varsity gym or in the stadium. Additionally, there will be no visitors inside the school if the ceremony is in the stadium.
More information regarding Graduation is listed below. I hope everyone has a great week , and keep bringing your A-game!
Mr. Palmer
Our ACHS TARC team's qualifying flights were one of the top scores in the Nation. This earns our team the right to compete in the National Finals of The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC) next month. ACHS is one of only 4 schools in the state of NC that earned this honor. Congratulations to Austin Sink, Drake Dessecker, Hunter Jamieson, Brevan McAlpin, and Culver Holland. Special thank you to our TARC Adviser Mr. McCollum.
GOOD LUCK AT NATIONALS!!!!
These dates are regular school days from 8:00AM to 3:05PM
Students must attend all day on their assigned A-Day or B-Day
After Exams, students will report to their other classes to review for their next exam and work on any makeup work
Social Emotional Learning Surveys for 9th grade students were sent out via student emails on Monday (5/17). All student surveys will remain open until June 3. Here is a link to a parent letter and a one-page handout if you would like to review this information.
Below are some Survey-Taking Resources for Students:
This guide is useful for sending out to parents/guardians to give them an overview of the surveys, and this proctor guide gives specific instructions for how adults can help children take their surveys.
This article is designed for students themselves to visit and learn more about how they can access, take, and submit their surveys.
The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program gives low-income households a discount on internet services so they don’t have to decide between purchasing broadband and other necessities as they work and learn at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, administered by the Federal Communications Commission, opens for enrollment on May 12, 2021.
Households may receive a discount of up to $50 a month for their internet bill. That rises to $75 a month for broadband service on tribal lands. Households may also receive $100 to buy a laptop, desktop or tablet through their internet provider.
The following frequently asked questions offer helpful information on participation and outreach for consumers, community groups and providers.
