We are excited that the weather is warming up and we have officially entered into Spring! March is quickly passing and Spring Break will be here soon. This is a reminder that spring break is April 1st - April 9th. Looking ahead to next week, A-day students will attend in-person school on March 29th, B-day students will attend in-person school on March 30th, and Wednesday March 31st is a remote day for all students.
I want to give a shout-out to Mrs. Reid, Mrs. Wimberly, and the 16 Beta Students that placed at the State Beta Convention recently. See our weekly highlights below for each winner.

ACT makeup testing will take place on March 23rd. Any junior that has not taken the ACT should be at school on this day to take the test.
Parking passes and assigned parking spots will be required after March 31st. Spots can be chosen and on Wednesday, March 24th. Students who purchased a pass earlier this year will have the opportunity to chose their spot on Wednesday, March 24th. Students will receive an email with details on when to come to chose their spot.
Students are allowed to come into the building, starting at 9:00, on Wednesdays to receive additional support from their teachers. Students must sign up with their teacher(s) or the media center in order to be on campus on Wednesdays.
Monday, March 29th will be an A-day and Tuesday, March 30th will be a B-day. This adjustment is made for all of Alexander County Schools to accommodate for Spring Break.
Spring break is April 2nd - April 9th.
Mitchell Community College will be holding virtual open house events on March 4, 18, 25, and April 1st. To register, click HERE.
Local scholarships are now available to seniors. Seniors should check their email for more information or visit the Counseling Center with any questions.
Senior yearbook ads are on sale through March 31st. Click HERE to purchase an ad for your senior.
The prom date has been set for April 17th. Please review the document found HERE has been updated outlining current COVID restrictions.
Event will be at ACHS.
ACHS Juniors and Seniors can attend.
Event will be held Saturday, April 17th. There will be 4 sessions for students, capping attendance at 75 students per session.
Cost for this event is $15, and tickets will be available through GoFan March 15th- 31st.
The date for graduation is June 4th. Graduation decisions will be made based on COVID restrictions at the time of graduation. If restrictions are lifted and we are able to have a traditional graduation, it will take place on the evening of June 4th. If restrictions are in place, we will make modifications to our traditional graduation. We will keep you updated as decisions are made.

We are still operating under Plan B. This means that approximately 50% of our students attend each day. Highlights of ACHS's Plan B operations:
A - Day students attend on Monday & Tuesday (Last name A - J)
B - Day students attend on Thursday & Friday (Last name K - Z)
Masks are required by all students and staff members.
Cleaning protocols are implemented throughout the school day and week.

State Beta Convention
Congratulations to all of our Beta Winners. ACHS had 16 students that placed at the State Beta Convention in various competitions. This is a record for our school. Congratulations to each of these students, Mrs. Reid, and Mrs. Wimberly! Great job!
1st Place Winner in the NC Soil & Water Conservation Poster Contest
Tanner Specht placed first in the local judging of the NC Soil and Water Conservation Poster contest. He was awarded with a medal and $75. He will advance to the state contest. Congratulations, Tanner!
