Mission Statement: Alexander Central High School will continue to be a learning community that will offer all students a diverse curriculum, enabling them to become contributing members of a constantly changing society.
February 22-28
Cougar Nation,
It's hard to believe that this is the last full week of February. I hope that everyone stayed safe and warm during our winter weather event last week. Spring is right around the corner!
COVID protocols are still in place at ACHS. I want to remind students, staff, and anyone else on the ACHS campus, that face masks are required at all times. Face coverings should cover the mouth AND nose. Face masks, combined with our cleaning protocols will allow us to continue in-person instruction in a safe manner. I thank everyone for their cooperation in making our COVID restrictions such a success during these times.
ACT is Tuesday! All A-day juniors will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, February 23rd. Please make sure your junior is in attendance on this day and prepared to test. The ACT is an important test that determines college readiness and is used by colleges for admission purposes. They should bring their calculators with them on test day. Students will find out their testing locations when they're at school on Monday.
As promised, we have more information regarding prom. Please see our prom section below for updates, as well as our prom document that has been shared with the Alexander County Health Department for approval. Our event will be held on April 17th at Alexander Central High School. The event will include photo opportunities for students, a keepsake, pre-packaged food, and time to create lasting memories with their classmates. This year's event will only be open to current seniors. This is in response to current NC Executive Orders.
Our first football game is scheduled for this week. The Cougars will face South Iredell. JV will play at home on Thursday and our Varsity football team will play on Friday at South Iredell. Tickets will not be sold to the general public for football. Tickets for this year's football season are reserved for the families of our student-athletes. However, you can still support Cougar football by live streaming all of our home games. See our Sports Updates section below for the link to our live streaming site. We are also extremely excited that our Girls Varsity Basketball team has made the playoffs!!
Keep bringing your A-GAME!

Please review the COVID-19 & Remote Learning Resources (linked below) on the school's website to help answer any questions.
Myla Ratchford is an 11th grader here at ACHS. She is currently our Beta Club's Co-Vice President. Myla recently ran for the position of NC State Beta Club President. She bravely participated in an intense virtual campaign process where she produced her own campaign video and made a campaign speech. Myla stepped out of her comfort zone to learn the campaign process, and we are so proud of her for that.
Ms. Reid, our Beta Club Sponsor, commented that Myla has emerged as a strong leader within the club. She drives most of the club's fundraising and service projects, all while taking the time to help her other club members when they need it.
Myla is an example of true servant leadership and we can't wait to see her grow her talents. ACHS is very proud of you, Myla!
Drake Dessecker is a senior at Alexander Central. You may have recently read an article about Drake published in the Taylorsville Times. Drake has accomplished something no other Cougar graduate has. In June, he will be graduating high school with two Associate's Degrees.
Drake was one of our College and Career Promise (CCP) students. He serves as an inspiration to current and future Cougars that they can achieve their dreams right here at ACHS.
ACHS is proud to work with each and every student so they may also achieve their dreams, including graduating high school with an Associate's Degree (or two). Our partnership with CVCC allows ACHS students to take college courses. If your student is interested in the possibility of earning an Associate's degree, have them speak with their counselor.
Drake, ACHS is proud of your hard work and we can't wait to see what you accomplish in the future!
