A key part of supporting children with reading is to know how to read alongside your child and ask questions at home. There are a few really easy Dos and Don'ts to focus on. This list isn't exhaustive but it's a great start and some of the elements may surprise you.
When reading with your child/ren, allow them to select what they would like to read. A website, a comic or the words around the supermarket are all types of different text and all use different reading skills. Your child will almost certainly transition to longer and more complicated text when they are ready to.
