Laboratory & Field Technician Apprenticeship (Closed)

Apprenticeship Description

YeDoma is looking for individuals who are interested in the field of construction to progress in technical skills that will not only provide a job but ultimately a career in the construction industry.

We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager.

The ideal candidate will be willing to learn a trade and become certified through the program to perform construction and geotechnical testing procedures. He/She will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

The goal is to develop our employees to be knowledgeable in the field regarding ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform concrete, soil and aggregate testing procedures according to ASTM and AASHTO specifications.

  • Progress through the program to become a certified field/lab technician.

  • Conduct site inspection and investigation works on civil infrastructure projects.

  • Reporting of material testing include the application of Excel spreadsheets and other programs.

  • Project documentation including reports, project communication, and design drawings.

  • Adherence to YeDoma Occupational Health and Safety System.

  • Self-driven career development.

  • Calibrating laboratory equipment and maintaining calibration schedule and records.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.

  • Ability to work in teams.

  • Ability to work in a laboratory/field environment to perform testing and site investigations.

  • Ability to carry equipment and samples in excess of 50 lbs.

Summer Internship 2021 (Closed)

Internship Description

The role of the Intern is gain practical skills and project expertise in the specialized field of geotechnical engineering and material testing. The summer intern will develop skills in work activities associated with laboratory, field, and office tasks. We anticipate the intern will support geotechnical investigations (seismic refraction, resistivity, dynamic probing and sampling), laboratory support to evaluate index properties of samples, foundation stabilization and design support, rockfall mapping, slope stability studies, and geologic mapping within the arid southwest region including New Mexico and Arizona.

YeDoma Consultants, LLC seeks an intern pursuing the field of civil engineering, geologic engineering, or graduate level earth science degree. The intern will gain exciting real-world engineering experience and be involved in a team approach that promotes innovative and state of the practice engineering based in Albuquerque, NM.

We frequently work in small teams to solve problems, explore new technologies, and learn from one another. The ideal intern for this environment will have computer software skills (GIS / CAD /visual basic/Java) as well as geologic and geotechnical background studies. We encourage applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and achieved at least a Junior standing at the University enrolled in either a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program. We are looking for enthusiastic, collaborative and independent people who can provide input into resolving complex earth science problems and build credentials towards a career in geotechnical and applied earth sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in coordination and supporting field engineering/mapping on geotechnical projects.

  • Conducting geotechnical analyses under the supervision of an engineer.

  • Supporting construction phase engineering activities on transportation and ground improvement projects.

  • Field engineering support for site inspection and geotechnical investigations on civil infrastructure projects.

  • Evaluating technical work plans and developing details using AutoDesk Civil 3D, Excel spreadsheets and other software programs.

  • Developing project documents including summary reports, email communication, and laboratory test reports.

  • Contribute to YeDoma’s innovative research approach.

  • Understand and conduct work based on YeDoma’s Occupational Health and Safety System.

  • Self-driven career development.

Requirements

  • Applied Earth Science or Civil/Geotechnical engineering focused studies.Self-driven with an ability to make sound decisions.

  • Uses engineering judgement to assess challenges and be part of a problem-solving team.
