Grade 4 Lesson Overviews:
Unit 1 Skills for Learning: learning about building empathy, listening attentively, communicating assertively, respecting differences, understanding complex feelings, accepting different perspectives, giving compliments, and showing compassion by including others.
Unit 2 Emotion Management: identifying triggers to strong emotions, calming strategies to self-regulate, managing feelings of anger and anxiety, avoiding assumptions and handling put-downs.
Unit 3 Problem solving: exploring consequences of problems, solution-focused strategies to handle conflict, scenario discussions, taking responsibility, the impact of peer pressure and practicing these strategies.

Bullying Prevention Unit:
Lesson 1 Recognizing Bullying: students will learn to identify and recognize bullying in scenario discussions.
Lesson 2 Reporting Bullying: students will demonstrate methods of reporting bullying.
Lesson 3 Refusing bullying: students learn to apply assertive communication skills to refuse bullying.
Lesson 4 Bystander Power: students will learn how to stop bullying by avoiding to be a bystander.

Lesson 1 Ways to stay safe: students will learn to identify common safety rules.

Lesson 4 Keeping private parts private: identifying body parts and when to report situations where someone breaks the touching rule.
Lesson 5 Practicing staying safe: learning to avoid keeping unsafe secrets.
Lesson 6 Reviewing safety skills: practicing continued reporting until someone helps.
