Under the North Star has ended. This campaign is sadly over. Please visit our main website for the new projects!
The action in the North Sea and the Russian Bastion happens mainly through C:MO. In this theater players fight the battles on the margins of the maps. Silent, but deadly. You'll play the long game, where your assets may be nurtured for months of game play.
Imagine this: Two Royal Norwegian Navy submarines (Utsira and Uthaug) are tasked by the player commander towards an area with Russian Naval radio chatter. A C:MO mission will be created for the submarine player to play while livestreaming. It's one and done, there's no take backs, so sail carefully.
Playing these missions is arguably the hardest form of gameplay available. You require a decent grasp of the game and tactics if you are to succeed. However, you can affect the game map, and make the DCS game day harder or easier with your actions.
As a player you'll command a single submarine, and sometimes a wolfpack. The missions are often assigned to be 24 hours or 48 hours as patrols, and might not always result in much of anything. Not for the impatient.
If you wish to play as them occasionally there will be opportunities for ASW-patrols or using small boats between fleets, or perhaps coastal patrols near the game area.
