The Bard

Shakespeare was referred to as "The Bard" - in recognition of his stature as a great poet and the unofficial national poet of England.

Who was Shakespeare?

For the rest of the term, we will be reading one of Shakespeare's most influential works - Hamlet. It is considered a tragedy - a genre of drama based on human suffering and the terrible or sad events that happen to the main character.

Below to the left is the version of Hamlet we will be reading in class. To the right is the worksheet of all the activities we will need to complete while reading the play. I will have a printed worksheet for each student tomorrow in class. Please do not lose your copy, and bring it with you to English class every day.
