Our aim at Plumberow is to create a curriculum that is ambitious and teaches our children the knowledge and skills they will need to be kind, happy, successful and remarkable members of the community. Our curriculum is progressive and promotes creativity.
Our curriculum builds on prior learning of teaching. This ensures that children have an absolutely solid, concrete understanding of subject knowledge and skills. We have the confidence to take learning at a steadier and deeper pace, ensuring that no child is left behind. We provide deeper and richer experiences for all our children. Our children will spend time becoming really confident with the appropriate objectives from the National Curriculum. We believe in the power of creativity in supporting well-being and encourage a creative approach in all subjects.
Push the Limits: We believe in encouraging our pupils to set high aspirations and strive for excellence in all areas of their lives. Our ambitious curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to engage in challenging tasks, problem-solving activities, and critical thinking exercises. By pushing the limits, our pupils develop resilience, determination, and the ability to overcome obstacles, preparing them for success in an ever-changing world.
Be Big Hearted: We instill the values of kindness, empathy, and compassion in our pupils. Our curriculum promotes social and emotional development, fostering positive relationships and nurturing a sense of community. Through collaborative projects, community engagement, and acts of kindness, our pupils learn the importance of making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Be Unusually Brave: We encourage our pupils to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new experiences. Our curriculum provides opportunities for risk-taking, creativity, and self-expression. We promote a growth mindset, empowering our pupils to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and develop the confidence to take on new and unfamiliar situations.
Discover What's Possible: We believe in nurturing curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. Our curriculum encourages exploration, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We provide a wide range of subjects, enrichment activities, and real-world connections to inspire our pupils' natural curiosity and help them discover their passions and talents.
At Plumberow Primary Academy, assessment is ongoing and happens within every lesson through good quality questioning and effective feedback or 'live marking' carried out with the children. We consider marking and feedback an essential tool for evaluation, assessment and planning next steps for learning. It is important to provide constructive feedback to children, focusing on success and next steps needed to move children’s learning forward. Effective marking and feedback ensures that we are able to acknowledge successes, promote pride in personal achievement and improve standards of teaching and learning. Records are kept for all children and progress is monitored carefully by pupils, teachers and parents.
The results of Year 6 SATs tests are reported to parents and the results published.
Consultations are held between parents and teachers throughout the academy year. Written reports are compiled at the end of the Summer Term .
