Pioneer Pillars of Curriculum

Pioneer School is committed to providing a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which engages, motivates, excites and challenges our learners whilst preparing them for the future. Through careful planning and delivery, our curriculum is differentiated and personalised to meet the needs of our learners, enabling them to reach their potential and prepare them to take their place in society. We believe our students deserve the best provision possible and therefore we have high expectations and regularly review and evaluate the curriculum to ensure it is fit for purpose. As well as the personalised curriculum and total communication our pupils follow a specific pillar of learning: Sensory exploration; EYFS; Subject specific; Towards independence.

Our curriculum is designed to promote inclusivity and diversity with our lesson plans ensuring that a range of identities and relationships are reflected across the curriculum.  Students are taught the value of tolerance and that all discrimination is wrong, and how they can report or combat discrimination that they witness or are the victim of, in or outside the school. Our curriculum is inclusive of all learners, and lessons are specifically prepared to ensure equality of opportunity and access.

We have up to date sensory and therapy facilities as well as excellent learning and specialist support areas which enhance the implementation of our curriculum. Therapists work closely with classroom staff to plan and deliver a bespoke curriculum using a pupil centred approach.

Our curriculum intent is to ensure that all students become:

We strongly believe that our curriculum:
