Supporting Learning at Home
At Lift New Forest, we value homework as an important part of learning. Homework helps students consolidate classroom learning, develop independent study skills, and prepare for assessments across Years 7–11.
We use a range of high-quality digital learning platforms—including Sparx Reader, Sparx Maths, Sparx Science, CenturyTech, and Languagenut—to provide personalised, interactive, and adaptive tasks. These platforms give students immediate feedback, track progress, and allow parents to monitor engagement and completion.
Homework is set via Google Classroom, where students can access instructions, resources, and submit tasks digitally. Parents can view assignments, check deadlines, and support their child in managing their workload.
Homework varies by year group and subject:
KS3: Short, regular tasks across subjects including reading, maths, science, languages, and humanities projects.
Year 10: Weekly revision, practice tasks, and flashcards in subjects such as history, geography, and core sciences.
Year 11: Exam-style questions, revision tasks, and personalised platform work to prepare for GCSEs.
Our homework expectations for each year group, along with expectations and resources, can be accessed following this link: Supporting Learning at Home: Homework Expectations by Year Group or viewed below.
We emphasise rewarding engagement and effort as much as achievement. Consistent participation and commitment to homework are key to building confidence, motivation, and a growth mindset.
Students can attend Homework Club in Q4, which runs every day from 15:10 to 16:10. This is an opportunity for them to complete homework with support from teachers and access digital learning platforms in a quiet, structured environment.
By combining structured tasks, digital tools, and clear guidance, we aim to make homework purposeful, manageable, and effective, helping students achieve their potential both at school and beyond.
