History
Our History curriculum fosters the critical and creative aspects of learning, eliciting our pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past, including the people that lived in it. Our pupils have the opportunity to study key figures in history, questioning how they have had an impact on the present day. Exploring societies, politics, culture and beliefs, our pupils gain a wealth of knowledge on key events from the past, developing a chronological framework in the process.
Our curriculum will enable pupils to:
develop a chronologcial awareness of the past;
use the concepts of continuity and change, cause and consequence, similarity, difference and significance, in order to make connections;
practise methods of historical enquiry;
understand how evidence is used to make historical claims;
know and understand significant aspects of the history of the wider world;
gain and deploy a historically grounded understanding of abstract terms;
gain historical perspective by placing their growing knowledge into different contexts.
