Tools for Digital Citizenship
Week 1 (March 12) - Letter from our ES Counselors
Dear Parents,
We are all proud of our strong AES community. As we navigate these times of uncertainty, we can support each other and celebrate that community. It is important that we all work towards maintaining a balance between staying informed and staying well.... (click link above to read complete letter)
Week 2 ( March 23) - Letter from our ES Counselors
Dear Parents,
Greetings from your AES ES counselors. These truly are unprecedented times around the world. The Corona Virus Pandemic is impacting all of us in ways we could not have imagined. We have all had friends, family and colleagues who have traveled back to their home countries, as well as those who are staying in New Delhi.
Connections are important now, as more and more people, communities and countries are in full lock down or shelter in place. Use whatever digital means available to stay connected with your families and friends. Everyone needs to feel supported by their loved ones right now. (click link above to read complete letter)
Week 3 (April 6) - Letter from our ES Counselors
Dear Parents,
I don’t know about you, but I look back and simply cannot believe how many things have changed in less than a month. So many expected plans canceled, unknown concerns hovering ahead, not being able to predict and plan things that used to be easy for me. If it is difficult for us as adults to process all these changes, we can expect that children will be feeling the same way. (click link above to read complete letter)
Week 4 (April 13) Letter from our ES Counselors
Dear Parents,
If you read last week’s letter from the ES Counselors, you might already guess that we are fans of Brene Brown’s podcast, Unlocking Us. If you haven’t listened yet, we highly recommend it! One of the episodes features Dr. Marc Brackett who is the director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Dr. Brackett also co-created RULER, an evidence-based approach to social-emotional learning. It’s a great way to think about how parents can talk about feelings and emotional regulation with their children. (click link above to read complete letter)
