Dance

What do I develop?

Dance is physically, cognitively and socially amazing! When you are a dancer you are developing so many life skills that you will not realise. You develop your resilience when you are learning complex routines, you develop confidence to be able to perform in front of audiences. You develop your creativity through choreography. You develop skills that enable you to work effectively within a team. As well as keeping your health and fitness up to scratch! There are many more!

How is this relevant to my future?

The above will help you throughout your life whatever you choose to do. When you are in a job, you must be resilient to learn new things that you may not always get right. You must be confident when you are interviewing for your dream job. You must be creative, enabling you to put ideas forward. You will always work as part of a team within a job in most cases. You practice all of the above in a physical subject - who’d have known!

Where could Dance take me?

From a dance qualification there are numerous jobs you could apply for. You could; be a dancer (on the west end or in music videos), you could be a choreographer (creating the dances for the west end or the music video), but you could also further your qualification to become a personal trainer or a yoga/pilates teacher. Or like Miss Barrett, you could teach dance within a school setting.

This could be you!

Miss Barrett has danced professionally in holiday parks, to families. Some of her friends are performing in Wicked the musical in London, she also has friends who are now children's TV Hosts! Some of Miss Barrett's friends have chosen to take different career paths after their dance training… and that’s ok! Because they’ve still taken all of their dance skills into their new profession.
