***** Welcome to the Course on Fluid Mechanics *****

Hello Students, I hereby welcome you all to your home "Department of Aeronautical Engineering" where you people will be spending most of your valuable time for the next three years. This course of Fluid Mechanics (0AEPC203) in the Second Year is one among the fundamental subjects in the engineering science, which find its applications in the wide fields of Engineering such as Aeronautical, Automobile, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Bio-Medical, and Civil Engineering.

Upon the successful completion of the course on Fluid Mechanics, The students will be able to

1. Explain the fluid properties, their definition & their SI Units

2. Apply the basic laws of nature to derive the fluid flow governing equations and use them for solving problems.

3. Apply the dimensional analysis technique and use similarity laws for carrying out the prototype testing.

4. Explain the basics and working principle of the fluid machinery and draw the velocity triangles for the various types of Turbo Machinery

5. Explain the basic terminology involved in the computational fluid dynamics and Solve the problems related to fluid mechanics using the governing equations of fluid flow.

6. Calculate the losses that occur when a fluid passes through closed conduits and analyze them to select the dimensions and material for the minimum losses.

7. Determine the Lift and Drag Forces on the bodies like flat plate, cylinder and airfoil.
