How I demonstrate(d) this competency:
Growing up, I was always taught the importance of respect for others, despite the personal feelings you might have for them, and that it is important to be aware of someone else's feelings. I feel that I demonstrate this in my everyday life, by showing others the respect they deserve, and by being understanding of others' emotions.
Why it's important:
Social skills are important for a career in healthcare because often, patients are in stressful situations when they are under your care, and it is important to be mindful of their feelings, and always respectful of their decisions and actions.
What this says about me:
I believe that I have an excellent understanding of treating others with respect and grace, and I hope to be able to show these aspects of myself during my career in healthcare.
What I learned or how I grew from this experience:
I feel that throughout my life, I have grown to be more respectful and aware of others' feelings, and improved the skill of self-control to be able to make better decisions in difficult social settings.
How this prepared me or influence my interest:
This has prepared me for a career in medicine because in the future, I will be better able to handle difficult social situations, and create solutions that are respectful to others.
