How I demonstrate(d) this competency:
My experience both as a barista, and as an EMT, have made my oral communication skills much better. In both of these careers, the ability to effectively understand and relay information conveyed orally is incredibly important.
Why it's important:
Oral communication skills are important for a career in healthcare because patients will more often than not, communicate their needs to you orally. It is important to be able to understand these needs, as well as be able to communicate information back to them and with the other providers you will work with.

I have better learned how to be more effective when conveying information, and to listen intently for important information.
