The Field Training Officer (FTO) position within A&J is a critical role responsible for the onboarding and development of newly hired security personnel. FTOs are our first point of contact for New Hires.
FTOs serve as mentors and guides, ensuring new officers are thoroughly trained in company policies, procedures, and practical security skills. They conduct on-the-job training, evaluate performance, and provide constructive feedback, ultimately ensuring new recruits meet our high standards of professionalism and competence.
FTOs are experienced officers who demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and they play a vital role in maintaining the quality and effectiveness of our security team.
Essentially the FTO sets the tone for the company.
Experience: Preferably at least 6-12 months of proven experience as a private enforcement officer with consistent performance.
Performance Record: No disciplinary actions; a history of professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of the company’s policies, patrol procedures, and reporting systems, and at least 50% of site sop's.
Communication Skills: Ability to mentor, provide constructive feedback, and articulate expectations clearly.
Guide and Mentor: Provide comprehensive on-the-job training to new security officers during their probationary period, covering patrol procedures, incident response protocols, report writing, and company policies.
Evaluate Performance: Conduct regular evaluations of trainees' performance, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
Oversee Training: Conduct periodic site checks and oversee on-the-job training sessions to ensure trainees are applying learned skills effectively.
Report on Progress: Provide timely feedback to supervisors regarding the progress and performance of each trainee.
Role Model: Serve as a positive role model, exemplifying professionalism, integrity, and adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Volunteer to assist in training or shadow current FTOs.
Develop a solid understanding of incident response protocols.
FTOs should be natural leaders, capable of inspiring recruits and setting a positive example for them to follow. Teaching ability: Not everyone can teach effectively. It requires patience and an ability to simplify complex tasks, clearly explain protocol, and adapt their teaching style
