Situational awareness is a critical skill for enforcement officers, ensuring the safety of people, property, and assets. 

It involves constant vigilance, proactive observation, and effective decision-making while on duty.

Key Aspects of Situational Awareness

1. Observation & Perception

2. Continuously scan the environment for potential threats, unusual activities, or security risks.

3. Pay attention to body language, suspicious behavior, and environmental changes.

4. Use all senses to detect anomalies, such as unusual noises, odors, or movements.

5. Threat Recognition & Assessment

6. Identify potential security threats before they escalate.

7. Assess the level of risk and determine appropriate response actions.

8. Differentiate between normal activity and suspicious behavior.

Proactive Decision-Making

1. Stay alert and anticipate possible scenarios to prevent incidents.

2. Follow established protocols for reporting and responding to threats.

3. Maintain a heightened level of awareness during high-risk situations, such as crowd control or night patrols.

Communication & Reporting
