Battalion Chief - Health & Safety
The Health and Safety Division is committed to identifying and eliminating workplace hazards, reducing risks to acceptable levels, and promoting the well-being of department members. To achieve this mission, we take a proactive approach that includes anticipating risks, identifying hazards, designing effective solutions, implementing safety measures, and evaluating the success of our risk-reduction strategies.
In addition to the normal activities of the division, the following were accomplished in 2025:
Tactical Fitness Mentors participated in several in-person and virtual conferences to enhance the services provided to our members.
Replaced aging equipment, including three treadmills and one elliptical, at fire stations.
Delivered wellness presentations to members in fire stations and recruit classes.
Conducted over 300 fitness training sessions, health coaching appointments, and InBody assessments for members.
Continued hosting weekday morning and evening workout sessions at the Fire Department Operations Support gym.
Partnered with the Logistics Bureau to receive and deploy a new Safety Officer vehicle equipped with advanced features for managing roadway incidents and a video system.
The division launched a new Instagram account (@aacofd_wellness)
to expand the reach of health and wellness information for members.
