Captain - Fire Alarm
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department Communications Center, known as "Fire Alarm", serves as the vital link between the public and emergency services for the County, its municipalities, and state and federal partners. Staffed by 32 civilian operators and 8 sworn Fire Lieutenants, the team operates on a 24/72-hour schedule to ensure constant readiness. In 2025, the center handled 162,213 calls with an impressive 9-second average wait time and 2-minute average processing time.
This year maked significant milestone: following the certification of 7 new personnel in EMD, EFD, and EPD protocols, Fire Alarm achieved full staffing with 0 vacancies.
Beyond personnel growth, the center completed critical updates to Priority Dispatch and CAD mapping systems. Looking ahead, we remain committed to our collaboration with County Police and Emergency Management as we transition toward a Joint Communications Center and a refreshed CAD platform to better serve our community.
