I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh. I received my dual Master's degree from the University of Delhi and the University of Paris in 2013, and my PhD degree from the University of York in 2018. I am an experimentalist in the nuclear astrophysics field. I study nuclear reactions and nuclei structure that affect the elemental abundances in the universe.

James Smallcombe

Following a PhD at the University of York (2013), I spent 15 months at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Tokai-mura studying fission asymmetry.

I then spent 3 years at the TRIUMF laboratory in Vancouver as an internal conversion electron specialist working with the TIGRESS and GRIFFIN spectrometer group.

Since 2018 I have been a postdoc at the University of Liverpool studying nuclear shape by electron and gamma-ray spectroscopy.

Nicholas Zachariou

Dr. Nicholas Zachariou is an Ernest Rutherford Fellow at University of York. He has obtained his PhD from George Washington University in 2012 and help postdoc fellowships with University of South Carolina and University of Edinburgh.

His main focus is in experimental hadron physics aiming at understanding the universe from the subatomic scale, by investigating the strong interaction (hyperon-nucleon interaction and excited spectrum of baryons).

His work utilises experiments carried out at the Thomas National Accelerator Facility, using the CLAS and CLAS12 detectors housed in Hall B.
