Assessments and Testing
The ASVAB Assessment for all Juniors will be on day / date. This is a skills assessment, which may help students align skills with post secondary planning. Students may "opt out" of this assessment with a signed note from a parent/guardian. This must be submitted to Guidance prior to the assessment date. Guidance Counselors will review ASVAB results with students and encourage them to use this information as another component in their post secondary planning.
PSAT testing: For Juniors and Sophomores will be administered during the week of October , the actual date will be announced and emailed to those signed up, (so make sure you check your school email!).
The PSAT/NMSQT test is a "practice" SAT offered by College Board and is taken here at the high school. Any Junior or Sophomore student interested in furthering their education in a 4 year college or university can take this "practice" test to help them prepare for the actual SAT. In 11th grade if your score is high enough, you may be eligible for scholarships. Get tips and a free practice test when you sign up in the Counseling Office! The cost for this practice test is $18.00 cash or checks made payable to Wilson Area High School.
Plan to sign up on collegeboard.org to register for the actual SAT in March, May or June of your Junior year. You will get the "Question of the Day" and many other tips, help, and information once signed up on collegeboard.
If your plan is to play sports in college, have your parent/guardian help you research the NCAA National College Athletic Association eligibility requirements. The NCAA requires completion of certain courses to be eligible. Check out their website too, NCAA Clearing House. As a Junior the NCAA may require you to have the Guidance office upload your transcript. Contact guidance to do so.
Please refer to Colleges Visiting WAHS on this website for any Spring college visits that Juniors can attend.
SAT/ACT testing registration and test dates can be found under "Testing Information" on the left side bar.
