Sophomores Jason Farrell Jr. (400m) and Ben Webersen (pole vault) set meet records at the Freshman/Sophomore CCC Championship meet this past Thursday at Wethersfield High School.
Jason, running from lane 7, took the lead early and was never caught as he cruised to a season best performance. His time of 52.87 bests the previous record by over 2 seconds and qualifies him to run in the state meet. Jason also ran and qualified for states in the 200m dash.
Ben Webersen vaulted to a season best of 10' 0" and won the championship on fewer missed attempts. His vault eclipses his previous personal record by 1' 6" and is only two heights shy of the state qualifying mark of 11'. Ben will compete this coming Tuesday at the CCC divisional championship meet at Simsbury High School.
Other CCC qualifying performances were Blake Morin in the 200m (24.24) and Xavier Philips in the 100m (11.93). Complete results can be found at http://mysportsresults.com/Results/Results/CentralCTFroshSoph-20170518.htm
