Captain's Corner -- Trying Different Events

What’s one of the coolest parts about being apart of Hall track and field? In my opinion, I think being able to try a variety of different events sets this sport apart. Attempting to run a new race maybe a little longer than a 100m sprint or the mile run is important; you may find yourself excelling in the 400m or in the 800m for example and may come to love an event you originally thought you would hate.

I mean all different events too, not just running ones. Take up high jumping, long jumping, shot put, discus, hurdling or even pole vault (which is sick). You don’t need to be the fastest runner on the team in order to compete, and these alternatives will allow you to potentially put up some points for Hall.

You’ll meet so many new people through being open to trying new events and the coaches will love the heck out of you for it. Everyone on this team and those with more experience in all the different events are more than willing to show you the ropes. So on the first day of track this year, maybe step out of your comfort zone a little bit, and see what happens. Make your season the best it can be.
