Smartphones are great because they enable us to access our data from anywhere. However this also exposes us to another threat of data loss. Sensitive corporate data is often at risk of being exposed if our devices are not properly protected.

Mobile Device Best Practices

• • Set up a PIN for your device so it can not be accessed by strangers

  • Set a short timeout for your lockscreen so your phone locks when unattended

  • Consider encrypting your data (Device encryption is only available on newer smartphones)

  • Android users can download the Android Device Manager.

    • GPS locate lost phones

    • Remote ring lost phones(even if they are on silent)

    • Reset devices screen lock PIN

    • Remote wipe the device
