Set up your Android for Google Apps

Before you start, find out in your device which version of Android you are using, then choose the instructions that work for your device:

Android version 5.0 and higher

If you are using an Android version 5.0 and higher, use these instructions:

To use the native Google Apps mail, contacts, and calendar apps on your Android, you need to sign in to your Google Apps account. The following instructions below are for users with an Android device running version 5.0 or higher. You only have to do this once:

    1. Touch the Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google to add your Google Apps account.

    1. The next screen will ask you to type in your Google Apps email address. For example, Bob.Smith@company.com. Then type in your password that you use to sign in to Google Apps and agree to the terms and conditions.

    1. Google will then ask what information you want to sync to your device from Google Apps. You can leave the defaults of all selected, or choose specific services you wish to sync to your device.

That's it! You can now use Google Apps from your Android. Just launch Gmail, Google Calendar, or whichever app you want to use, from your device's home or applications screen.

Android version 4.2 to 4.4.4

If you are using an Android version between 4.2 and 5.0, use these instructions:

    1. Tough the Settings > Add Account > Google to add your Google Apps account

    1. Select Existing and enter your full Google Apps email address as your username and enter your password you use for Google Apps

    1. Touch OK to agree to the Terms of Service. The device will sign in to your domain.

    2. You may be presented with additional steps giving you the option to use additional Google services. You can choose to set these up or touch Not Now.

    3. You should see Account sign-in Successful. You can choose which services you want to sync to the device

That's it! You can now use Google Apps from your Android. Just launch Gmail, Google Calendar, or whichever app you want to use, from your device's home or applications screen.

Android version lower than 4.2

If you are using an Android version lower than 4.2, use these instructions:

    1. Open the Accounts & sync Settings screen on your device. You can do this in Contacts by pressing Menu and pressing Accounts, or directly in the Settings application. The Accounts & sync settings screen displays your current sync settings and a list of your current accounts

    2. Touch Add account.

    1. Touch Google to add your Google Apps account.

    2. Touch Sign in when prompted for your Google Account.

    3. Enter your full Google Apps email address as your username, and then enter your password. Note: If you've enabled 2-step verification, you need to enter an application-specific password instead of your password the first time you sign in to your Android.

    4. Select which services you'd like to sync.

That's it! You can now use Google Apps from your Android. Just launch Gmail, Google Calendar, or whichever app you want to use, from your device's home or applications screen.
