REACH Leadership Institute

Any high school student in Georgia who is currently a freshman – junior is eligible to apply to join 21st Century Leaders and spend a week exploring leadership and careers alongside diverse, like-minded peers and corporate partners across Georgia.

Three of the institutes (SYLI, EarthCare and the Healthcare & IT Institute) will be residential programs on a college campus! The WarnerMedia Institute for Future Leaders will be virtual.

  • Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors in high school (public, private or homeschool) in Georgia are eligible to apply.

  • We are looking for a diverse group of students who are ready to develop their leadership and connect with peers and professionals from around the state, regardless of previous leadership experience.

  • Students must submit their own online application and ask a teacher or community leader submit a separate recommendation online for the student (it’s brief!). An interview is also required for applicants to SYLI, the WarnerMedia Institute, and the Healthcare & IT Institute.

  • For residential programs, students will need to be dropped off on Sunday and picked up on Friday.

  • NOTE: Two of the institutes have a registration fee for accepted students, however we have financial waivers available for any accepted student who needs it, to ensure they can attend if offered a spot!

All four institutes focus on leadership, diversity, equity and inclusion training, networking and skills for personal and professional development; each institute has a unique industry focus, so students can apply for the one that resonates with them the most!

  • Summer Youth Leadership Institute (SYLI@Goizueta) – Sunday, June 5 – Friday, June 10, 2022 @ Emory University; focus on business, social enterprise and entrepreneurship

  • EarthCare – Sunday, June 12 – Friday, June 17, 2022 @ Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA; supported by the Georgia Power Foundation, the focus is on STEAM, energy and sustainability

  • Healthcare & IT Institute – Sunday, June 19 – Friday, June 24, 2022 @ Kennesaw State University; focus on healthcare, healthcare tech and healthcare business

  • WarnerMedia Institute for Future Leaders – Sunday, July 10 – Friday, July 15, 2022, online; sponsored by WarnerMedia, focuses on all things media and entertainment; current sophomores and juniors only

This is a great opportunity for high school students to meet and learn from peers, gain and apply leadership skills and social-emotional awareness, explore careers through connections to professionals, and experience life on a college campus.


AIM HIGH Flight Academy (AHFA)

AIM HIGH Flight Academy (AHFA) is a flight training program for high school students and Air Force cadets aged 16-23 years old. It is hosted during the summer in Milton, Florida.

Free flight opportunity for kids from 16-23 years old to get 15 hours of FREE instruction in an airplane. Student lodging, travel, and food are all 100% paid for by the US Air Force during your summer session. The application window will close on December 10, so make sure to get those applications submitted at www.aimhighflightacademy.com. ARC Oak Ridge Summer STEM Program

Established in 1990, the ARC Oak Ridge Summer STEM Program is a residential, hands-on learning experience for Appalachia’s middle and high school students, as well as high school teachers in STEM-related fields. Hosted by Oak Ridge Associated Universities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this program is a gateway to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the Appalachian Region. Many participants come from economically distressed counties and often gain their first exposure to applied science and STEM education through this experience.

All participants work with award-winning scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, one of the largest U.S. Department of Energy research facilities in the United States. High school and middle school students conduct guided group science, math, and computer science technology research projects, while high school teachers work with science practitioners to develop STEM-related curriculum.


Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy

ARC’s Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy (AEA), developed in partnership with the Institute for Educational Leadership, prepares the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and thinkers. Chosen via a competitive application process, rising high school seniors from across the Appalachian Region are selected to participate in a learning experience designed to cultivate creativity and develop skills essential for entrepreneurial success. As part of the program, AEA students receive tech support, materials, and other resources to participate. At completion, students will receive a formal Certificate of Completion.


National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine

If you are a high-achieving student interested in medicine, see your counselor for information and nomination for this summer program. This is a 9-day program to work with doctors in hospitals with options in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Raleigh-Durham, San Francisco or Washington, D.C. Several NWHS students have attended in the past.


National Youth Leadership Forum: Engineering

If you are a high-achieving 9th, 10th or 11th grade student interested in the fields of engineering, see your counselor for information and nomination for this summer program. This is an 8-day program to learn the core principles of engineering and problem solving are critical to innovation and success in the 21st century. You will receive invaluable information from industry experts and experience engineering careers through site visits, lab tours, and simulations, all of which will help you make informed choices about your future. The forum takes place at Georgia Tech or the University of California, Berkeley. The sooner you register, the greater your chance of getting your choice of forums.

University of North Georgia Summer Language Institute

The Summer Language Institutes (SLI) at the University of North Georgia Dahlonega campus covers what is traditionally one year of college level language study in just 6 weeks, enabling motivated students to move from the beginner to intermediate proficiency level very quickly. Duke University Summer Session

Duke Summer College for High School Students (grades 10 & 11) allows students to earn academic credit while the Duke Summer Academy and STEM Academy for High School Students (grades 9-12) provide personal enrichment. Applications are accepted on a first-come basis until spots are filled.


UGA's VetCAMP (Veterinary Career Aptitude and Mentoring Program)

VetCAMP will house rising high school juniors and seniors and rising college freshmen on UGA's campus. During the program, students will be involved in various activities aimed at evaluating their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, providing mentorship and helping them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path. The is a cost of attendance which covers lodging, meals, instruction, and social activities. Financial assistance is available.


UGA Youth & High School Programs

The UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences offers several summer programs designed to give youth and high school students the opportunity to explore and witness first-hand the academic experiences and potential careers obtained by CAES graduates. Youth and high school students can engage in real laboratory settings, participate in hands-on activities with live animals, watch avian surgery, visit greenhouses, tour departments and facilities, and partake in other countless activities that give them the opportunities to meet other potential students, network with UGA faculty members and get a sense of what their UGA experience could be


Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies summer program

We offer programs across a wide variety of disciplines including arts, humanities, science, and math, giving highly motivated students the opportunity to investigate advanced topics not typically taught in secondary schools. Participants engage in small classes with brilliant instructors and peers who share their passions.

Deadlines for our summer programs are in February, with some early round deadlines in January. Admission is selective. Limited financial aid is available.


University of Alabama UA Early College

Take two classes and live on campus this summer. You must have successfully passed UAEC 200 College Readiness Course and be in good academic standing.


Actuarial Science Summer Camp (Math for Fun and Profit)

Our Actuarial Science Summer Camps are week-long intensive programs for rising high school seniors designed to help them decide if they’re interested in actuarial careers. An actuary is a business professional who uses mathematical and financial tolls to help identify and manage risk, so it's a great career for students who are strong mathematically but who are not necessarily interested in teaching. It's also great for students who like business and have good math aptitude. Bezos Scholars Program

Every year, 17 exceptional high school juniors and an educator from each school are selected as Bezos Scholars. Scholars are chosen from across the U.S. and the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa. After spending a week immersed in learning at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Scholars return home and develop a community change project to make a positive difference in their communities. Once selected, Scholars join a global alumni network where they are offered opportunities to connect, collaborate, get inspired, and take action for the greater good.

Carnegie Mellon Pre-College

Carnegie Mellon's Pre-College Programs in the fine arts are six-week residential experiences that provide high school students with the opportunity to develop their skills in a conservatory or studio setting. For years, Carnegie Mellon has been recognized for the quality of education that is provided within our College of Fine Arts. Through the Pre-College program, high school students have access to this instruction and mentorship from full-time faculty members.

Our summer Pre-College program options in the fine arts include the following:

Architecture, provides students architectural experience within the studio, supported by integrated coursework in analog drawing, digital media, seminars and workshops.

Art, where students will hone their craft through challenging courses, critique, workshops, and portfolio development.

Design, for students who would like to receive a foundation of Design skills through studio learning, lectures, and critiques.

Drama, for students who would like to build their audition repertoire and portfolio with acclaimed faculty.

Music, where students participate in a conservatory-style curriculum and experience life within a research university.

Andrew College Summer Bridge Program

The Summer Bridge Program provides students the courses, atmosphere, and support they need for a successful start to their college career. During the six-week term, students will be able to focus intensely on some of their most important required core courses with the advantages of small class sizes, minimal distractions, and specially developed tutoring services. Bridge students will participate in campus activities to build friendships, connect with campus resources, and become acclimated to the college environment. The Summer Bridge Program gives students the head start they need to thrive at Andrew College.


Lipscomb University Pre-College Programs

The Office of Pre-College Programs includes a portfolio of opportunities for high school students to jump-start their college careers while engaging with a robust, vibrant campus in the heart of Nashville, TN. Programs are operated by our faculty, staff and students with a goal of nurturing collegiate level inquisition within a Christian perspective. We offer programs for students beginning sophomore year of high school in residential, commuter and online formats. University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for Summer 2022 Pre-College Programs at UNC Asheville! We hope that you will help us share information about these on-campus opportunities with interested students and their families. Limited spaces are available, so we encourage early registration.

Each Pre-College program will run from Sunday to Friday, with topics spanning the arts and sciences. All students will live on campus to fully experience university life and the surrounding community. The program cost, which starts at $1,200, includes lodging, meals, course materials, activities and excursions. Programs follow COVID protocols and University community expectations, and offer a flexible cancellation policy.

Dates for our Summer 2022 Pre-College Programs are June 12-17, June 19-24 and June 26-July 1, 2022, with several programs offered multiple weeks.
