OTHER GOOGLE EARTH DIRECTIONS (YOU DON'T NEED THESE FOR YOUR THREE BRANCHES PROJECT)
To create a PATH for a main river in each country:
1. Click on the PATH icon at the top (located to the right of the POLYGON icon).
2. Type the name of the river you are tracing in the "Name" box. Click in "Description" box.
3. Under "Style/Color," change the color to blue and the size to 5.0.
3. Trace the path your river takes through your country using the same methods used with the Polygon tool.
Suggestions:
• choose a major river to trace, one you drew on your country map, or one that seems to flow through population centers.
• turn off all your other layers of information (you can keep "Borders and Labels").
• start tracing from the MOUTH of the river (where it empties into a larger body of water) and trace until the river leaves your country or until it splits into the
tributaries.
• zoom in close enough to see the changes in the path of the river.
• the white lines on Google Earth are not rivers; they are state or other political borders in your country.
To create a CAPITAL CITY PLACEMARK for the capital city in each country:
1. Make sure that "Borders and Labels" are on.
2. Click on the PLACEMARK icon at the top (the pushpin).
3. Move the pushpin on top of the capital city.
4. Change the icon from a pushpin to a star.
5. Type the name of the capital city in the "Name" box.
6. Copy and paste the Latitude and Longitude (found just below the "Name" box) into the "Name" box next to the name of the capital city.
