We have started our work in Unit Three and one of the first ideas we discuss is the role ordinary people play in creating just communities. Central to this idea is how identity is a big factor in people's thoughts and actions. This involves how we see ourselves as an individual and in a group, as well as how we feel others perceive us. "The Slippery Slope" describes the way people move from Labeling to Stereotyping to Prejudicial Thinking to Discriminatory Actions. This projects asks students to define, give examples of, and consider the effects of "The Slippery Slope."
