The Activist's Suitcase is a project which challenges students to synthesize information they have learned about the Civil Rights Movement. Students will demonstrate their understanding by describing and explaining objects which symbolize the philosophy of nonviolence, the philosophy of black power, a goal of the Civil Rights Movement, an obstacle activists faced, and a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement.
There are many resources for students to use. Below find handouts which students received in digital form through Google Drive, as well as the criteria for this project. Also, we organized handouts in student's folders this week so they could be referenced throughout the project. Finally, the "MLK and Civil Rights Movement" page on this website (see navigation bar at left) has many links to use for basic and exceeds level information.
