Katie Sierra Assessment due by the end of the day Wed. 11/27

In the last several days, students have participated in the “Town Meeting Simulation” in which they each play a role to discuss possible limits on Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly. The simulation is a made up scenario based upon real events in Sissonville, West Virginia in the fall of 2001. While role-playing, students try to determine what the appropriate balance is between personal freedom and group safety in a school.

In this assessment, students demonstrate their understanding of the multiple perspectives they heard from during the "Town Meeting Simulation." Also, students use evidence gathered to support a possible answer to the main question posed in our simulation: Should Katie Sierra be allowed to wear her anarchy t-shirts in school? The criteria for success for this assessment is attached below.
