EPA 21 was created to allow learners the ability to customize an EPA to meet their individual experiences
it provides a way to build an EPA that incorporates multiple EPAs into one submission
It provides a way for a learner that is close to graduating to build an EPA using only the competencies that are needed to graduate
It provides a way for the program to assess a learner nearing graduation that either has a deficit in one or more competencies or, during the degree audit, the assessment committee determines it needs additional evidence of competence to approve a learners final learning plan for graduation.
If a learner is considering submitting a custom EPA, they should:
Discuss the plan with their mentor.
Determine if an existing EPA can be used by adding a competency that is not required or optional (white box) or asking for an exception for a required competency (i.e., you have already earned 2 or more credits for a competency)
Approval from the Curriculum Committee for an exception or a waiver is required BEFORE you submit an EPA. The process for doing that can be found here
Approval for this EPA is required BEFORE submission. Learners should submit their proposal to the Curriculum Committee stating:
their rationale for the request
the competencies they are requesting
the competency critera for each of the requested competency/competencies. Competency criteria can be copied from existing EPAs that are similar to your project.
Once the curriculum committee approves the request, include the approval email when the EPA is submitted so the Assessment Chair has the competency criteria to include with the assessment documents.
