Students must be currently enrolled in a masters or PhD program at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Coursework
Enroll in and pass the course Science & Justice: Experiments in Collaboration (ANTH 267A, BME/FMST/SOCY 268A), with a letter grade of B or higher or S if enrolled as ‘S/US’. The final project for the course can be the proposal for a collaborative project or public event which connects the student’s research interests with other students and/or members of the Science & Justice community.
Project with culminating public event
Selected proposals will receive appropriate funding, and as appropriate to the proposal, will be invited to present the outcomes of their projects at a culminating event to the Science & Justice Working Group.
Collaborative Project Planning responsibilities may include: refer to student handbook.
Event Planning: students must attend one group mentoring meeting per term to keep Center staff appraised of logistical plans.
Rapporteur Report: students must produce a written analysis of their project or event outcomes for public posting within two weeks of an event or project completion.
Attend and Participate
Students must attend six Working Group meetings or co-sponsored events (we host or co-sponsor 12-15 events per year).
