Welcome + Contacts
The Science & Justice Research Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is a globally unique endeavor that innovates experimental civic spaces and collaborative research practices for exploring the places where questions of science meet questions of justice. The Center is home to the Science & Justice Working Group, Graduate Training Certificate Program, Visiting Scholar Program, and sponsored research projects. The initiative builds on the UCSC campus’ historic commitments to social justice and strengths in science studies and interdisciplinary research.
WHO WE ARE
The Science & Justice Research Center community is composed of faculty, students, and administrators across the UC Santa Cruz campus, representing the divisions of engineering, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. Under the leadership of its Directors, SJRC has both internal and external advisory boards, a steering committee that shapes Center programming, and a diverse and far-reaching collective of affiliates and partners on campus, in the community, and farther abroad. SJRC also regularly hosts visiting scholars. SJRC employs a Center Manager, as well as a number of graduate and undergraduate student researchers. Finally, graduate students who complete the Science & Justice Training Program (SJTP) may become SJTP Fellows who contribute to planning Center events and participate in Science & Justice Working Group (SJWG) discussions.
