MED546 ORIENTATION:  

Dr. Rebecca Lee/Ms. Amanda Blouin will have a MED546 orientation on the first day of your rotation (details will come from Ms. Amanda Blouin).  After the orientation, it is your responsibility to contact your Junior Attending/Senior Resident to arrange a time/location to meet up with your team.  

GIM UAH ORIENTATION:  

A site specific orientation will be arranged with Dr. Patricia Araneta and will forwarded to you prior to the start of your rotation.  Attendance is MANDATORY.  

LEAD STUDENT:  

A lead student will be assigned a few weeks prior to the start of your rotation and this individual is responsible for compiling the call schedule, reminding preceptors of teaching sessions and forwarding teaching reports to my attention at the end of each week.  The assigned Lead Student will also be my main contact if I need to get a message to the group urgently.  

CALLY:  

Course Schedule:  All teaching sessions (bedside, orientation and etc) have been added to Cally and you should be able to review all sessions during your eight week rotation.  If you cannot see them, please let Carrie Hlady know. 

Clerkship Assignments:  I have mapped you with the appropriate preceptors during your eight week rotation.  There may be changes made during your rotation and I will update as I am notified but if there are any errors, you should be able to update on your end as well.  

CALL SCHEDULE:  

I will be in touch a few weeks prior to the start of your MED546 rotation to inquire about any specific call requests and will put together the call schedule BY BLOCK (not by flight).  Changes are permitted but they MUST be amongst the same team.  If changes are made, please be sure to let Carrie Hlady know so I can update the call schedule.  

CALL ROOM ASSIGNMENTS:  

If you are scheduled on call, you will receive an email that morning indicating the call room which you are assigned to that night OR use the call room assigned to your team (MED A, MED B or MED C).  The email will also include the call room door codes.  

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE GRAND ROUNDS:  

If you wish to receive notices of Grand Rounds during your MED546 rotation, please email domcom@ualberta.ca and you will receive the information going forward.
