 FALL 2024 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Registration Screening Process

Kindergarten Registration for the 2024/25 School Term will be held on THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2024, and FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 2024, at the Hegins-Hubley Elementary School, 1801 W Main St, Valley View, PA, 17983.

Students from all townships will register at this one location on one of the above dates.

A complete screening program will be used for all eligible children who will be five years of age BEFORE September 1, 2024, to apply for admission to Kindergarten. Students will complete basic screening stations. These stations consist of a review of student information & health records, speech evaluation, hearing & vision screenings, and a school assessment check with a kindergarten teacher.

Appointment Making Process

After completing the TVSD Kindergarten Registration Mailing List 2024-2025, families will receive more information and directions on how to make an appointment.

Parents are requested to provide the child's Birth Certificate (proof of age*), two (2) forms of proof of residency, and proof of immunization records* prior to registration. State law requires exact dates and written proof of immunizations from a physician.  Written proof must contain the physician’s letterhead or be authorized by the physician’s office.  All immunizations must be completed before the first day of school.  Pennsylvania Law requires all new school entrants in this state to be immunized against certain communicable diseases.  Immunization requirements for entering school can be found here.

 *         Proof of the child's age

Any one of the following constitutes acceptable documentation: birth certificate; notarized copy of birth certificate; baptismal certificate; copy of the record of baptism – notarized or duly certified and showing the date of birth; notarized statement from the parents or another relative indicating the date of birth; a valid passport; a prior school record indicating the date of birth.

*         Immunizations required by law

Acceptable documentation includes: either the child’s immunization record, a written statement from the former school district or from a medical office that the required immunizations have been administered, or that a required series is in progress, or verbal assurances from the former school district or a medical office that the required immunizations have been completed, with records to follow.

HOMELESS STUDENT RESOURCES

Transportation Information:  Transportation is provided to and from school for each child in as an efficient manner as possible.  Assignments may be made by place of residence or permanent babysitter situations. If arrangements for a child are located at a home other than his or her own residence and the normal established bus routes do not serve that particular area, it then becomes the parent’s responsibility to provide transportation.

Compulsory School Age:   Through the enactment of Act 16, the definition of compulsory school age was changed to “the period of a child’s life from the time the child’s parents elect to have the child enter school and which shall be no later than 6 years of age until the child reaches 18 years of age. The term does not include a child who holds a certificate of graduation from a regularly accredited, licensed, registered or approved high school.” 24 P.S. §13-1326.

School Building Assignments:  The Tri-Valley School District consists of almost 100 square miles and has two elementary schools; Hegins-Hubley Elementary School in Hegins Township and Mahantongo Valley Elementary School in Upper Mahantongo Township. Confirmation of building assignments will NOT be made until after kindergarten registration dates have passed and the District has had time to analyze data (including class size projections and many other factors) in an effort to equalize enrollment K-6 at both of our elementary buildings. Building assignment notification will be provided to parents as soon as confirmations have been made. Generally this takes place over the summer months.
