About Us

Since December of 2002, the Tarkington Community Library has served the children, youth and adults of Tarkington Prairie. The library holds a wide selection of books and media for all ages, provides computer and Internet access and other services for library cardholders, houses a special section of historical artifacts collected by the Tarkington Prairie Historical Society, and hosts some terrific year-round programs for community members, including several kid-centered summer programs. In April of 2017, Tarkington Community Library adopted a strategic 5-year plan for services growth and facilities expansion. Check out our 5-year plan here! Major goals for this year include updating policies and procedures and getting the library fully-automated. Expansion of services and hours is also being implemented with patron needs in mind.
